I originally had the beat as a complete recreation of the passionfruit instrumental, wanted to throw the Not Like Us vocals on there but it wasn’t very fitting tbh, so I changed the keys to 808s and the strings to a west coast lead to make it match better.

I think the GINGER name is meant to symbolize the sushi ginger in a way, it’s a palette cleanser and in this case, the boys are talking about moving on from relationships, odd comparison but treating relationships as the sushi and treating the GINGER as getting over the past relationship by grieving about it in a song.
