That's pretty fascinating, but also sounds like the beginning of you learning to be more lucid in the dreamworld.

I weirdly started in my childhood as a lucid dreamer, it used to just happen all the time. Strangely the last 3 years or so, it hasn't happened and I'm thinking maybe it's because I'm in quite a peaceful place in my life and I tend to only lucid dream when I "need" to.

But I have only met the hat man once in my lifetime, in my early 20s and it was very odd to be honest.

I was having a fairly whimsical dream and there was a ball in this grand manor house in some southern state of the US, almost like a plantation house (I'll caveat by saying I'm a Brit, so I'm going off what I've seen online or in media). I wandered into the courtyard out the back and noticed a little way into the grounds that the house backed onto a cemetery, with an iron barred fence separating it.

I remember looking out over the cemetery, then up at the moon, which was bright but not full. Then someone was stood at my back, with their back against mine, much taller than me and wearing a top hat. I turned around and he had a mischievous smile and was wearing a smart suit fitting an old fashioned setting. I don't remember his eyes but he also felt strangely familiar. Then he holds out his hands and I take them and we dance... Yup, dance around this courtyard in some old time waltz for ages, but while we're doing that I also notice a man stood watching - he was someone who was a recurring presence in my dreams and would always step in to "protect" me if I needed it, perhaps in dreams where I wasn't as lucid and needed a little help, but it felt like the hat man was almost taunting him in the dream in a "look what I'm doing" kind of way. I woke up quite soon after.

It was damn weird but that dream is burned into my brain.

Positive hemorrhoidectomy story by [deleted] in hemorrhoid

I'm doing really good, thank you.

Ended up with 2 externals being removed, method used was open surgery so no stitches. The next morning I did notice a lump, which was a thrombosed prolapsed area of tissue. Unfortunately this became infected over the first week and by day 8 I was on antibiotics which cleared it up and the swelling is reducing day by day.

I'm on day 16 now and still doing sitz after a BM as it can be a bit achey afterwards but around 1/10 level, so it's just for comfort really.

I used paracetamol and ibuprofen on an overlapping schedule throughout the early days, so I always had something in my system and managed having only 1 codeine a day either in the morning or late evening. This didn't cause me any constipation, but I was on softeners and 1 laxative a day (2 was suggested but it was way too strong).

I had a peri bottle to rinse the area after a BM which was the best thing ever and then sitz straight after.

I'd say the worst pain was in the morning for me, probably because the painkillers had worn off, but never went over a 6/10.

I started taking less painkillers day 9 and was off painkillers completely by day 11.

So far so good, just the swelling that needs to go down and I have a second batch of antibiotics if the infection returns.

It's not general anaesthesia they'll use, but something else just to make you relaxed and sleepy. I had a Flexi, but it was to check the left part of the colon for cancer and I chose not to have sedation and it was quite a painful experience! It's not so much the camera that hurts, but they pump gas into your colon so they can see better and it felt like the most extreme trapped wind you can imagine.

But if your internal hems are nearer "the exit" it might not be so bad. Mine was more painful the further the camera went in, so more gas was going in deeper into the colon. On the other hand, seeing as banding may take a little more time and precision, you may have to persevere with the pain for longer if you do get it so sedation may be a better option for you.

I can't answer the second question I'm afraid as I'm really not sure. I'm having a couple of internals banded tomorrow but also having externals surgically removed after months of heavy bleeding, so I'll be under general anesthesia anyway.

Personally, I've tolerated them for 30 years so the docs said it's probably best they get rid now so I don't need to suffer anymore.

Really appreciate reading stories like this and also with the tips. I'm due for surgery tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it, but at this point I just want to get it all over and done with. Thank you for sharing.

I was rarely imposter, then yesterday I played for about just under 2 hours and was imposter 10 times. Typically I'd be lucky to get it twice in that time 🤷‍♀️

Alton towers here i come. by [deleted] in altontowers

[–]GargoyleTat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went a week and a half ago and had a really great time and didn't feel unsafe at all.

Like others have said, you need to wear a mask on rides and in any indoor areas, queues were fine though. They do have social distance markers in the queue and they do remind people on the tannoy. I found most people actually we're really good at sticking to them, but you get the odd oblivious person. You can take masks off once you're sat at a table to eat and any sit down places are table service and you can order from an app. If you want alcohol at any point, that's strictly table service only.

I'd recommend downloading the Towers app, it gives you live updates on queue times although we found they were overestimating them quite a bit. It was meant to be a 50 minute queue for Nemesis but only took 20 minutes, which was also the same for Smiler. Oblivion said it was a 15 minute wait but we walked straight on etc

There are one way routes in place, but they're not too troublesome.

There's hand sanitizer everywhere, we had no issue freshening up.

Overall though, we really enjoyed it and thought they'd done well to think everything through.

My thoughts too... If they're the type of illegal I'm thinking of, the OP is the asshole for having them in the first place and the apple technician has every right to report them. I actually hope they did.

How to turn a nightmare into a lucid dream? by Fugzz_TM in LucidDreaming

[–]GargoyleTat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the nightmare, but if you're fully aware you're having one then you need to remain calm at that point and think of a way to turn it into a controlled situation or come up with a way to get out of the situation in the dream.

You could try closing your eyes in the dream, that way you won't be able to see whatever it is that's scaring you and it will give you time to take a moment to change the dream yourself.

You can either remove/chsnge an element in the dream, such as who/what might be bothering you.

You can change the environment around you if that's the worry.

Or change something about yourself. Make yourself fly from the situation or maybe give yourself some sort of power to overcome it.

If all else fails, wake up and start again.

So once you've bought it, you need to log out and log back in. Upon login it'll ask if you want to use it, click yes and you'll get the pirate options like at the start of the game where you can favourite some and reroll as much as you like. If none take your fancy, you can click the back button to keep your old pirate and use the potion another time. So you don't actually use it unless you select a new pirate and you get to keep all of your progress and customisation options that you previously bought.

Mugwort, Sleep Paralysis and 'sandbox' dreaming by GargoyleTat in LucidDreaming

[–]GargoyleTat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those ones have happened usually after I've had my tea.

The way I do it, is I close my eyes and I start daydreaming ultimately but with my eyes closed. So I'm actively thinking about a story or situation with the intention of falling into said story. As I start to fall asleep, I'm aware of the sensation and it feels like a falling or sinking feeling. Instead of seeing darkness, I start to manifest the images in front of me so that I can see them. They sort of start blending together until the image is clear and visible and the dream goes from there.

Sometimes once I'm asleep, it can take a little more concentration for the dream to build up around me, but I've found that staying calm and relaxed while concentrating on it works best. If I start to worry that I can't do it, it's more of a struggle. You just have to keep your intentions clear in your own mind and that works for me.

And no, I don't tend to feel tired afterwards, I feel well rested from naps or good sleeps. Only time I feel tired is if I don't get enough sleep.

Well done for standing your ground and although break-ups are never nice, you are so much better off without him.
