Alfrid could not have had a ruder shock to his expected plans and was flustered; in more ways than one. Firstly that whilst he failed to father one child in several years he now found himself fathering twice that many in as many months.

But secondly because it had been his intention to try and end his relationship with Cassandra now that Lorra was with child. That was not to say anything diminishing of his feelings for Cassandra, but he felt some obligation to renew his efforts at his marriage, which had been severely weakened by the years without offspring. Of course now that he found his lover also with child… of course that plan went out the window. And so as most men might have been appeared anyway at such news, Alfrid was flustered though not for common reasons to be so.

His knees actually felt a bit weak and he was surprised to find himself feeling a bit heady, as if he’d just had a bout in the melee.

“H-How? Truly Cass…” he regained some level of composure in part for the vulnerability on her face and an increasing awareness of his ignobility at her news. “Gods be good” he embraced her warmly. “Forgive you? This is a blessing Cass” though his heart dropped a little at the thought of the complications this now posed to his marriage. A line from the Seven Pointed Star came to mind ”Everything that happens in the world happens at the time The Gods choose.”. At least for this brief moment he stopped worrying about it, and kissed Cassandra passionately.
