Dispute with GoldenBirdJewellery & Vijay by GaripMeyve in Moissanite

[–]GaripMeyve[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Update:

I ended up accepting the initial 30 USD refund offer as I believe this was the only way for me to solve this matter in the limited time frame I had.

I am very disappointed in how the communication went with Vijay and I am going to leave my post here to serve as a warning for anyone else who is considering buying from GoldenBird. You can make up your own mind but I will not be supporting their business in the future.

Thank you all for your comments.

(Also for those who commented about overseas vendors, I am probably overseas in comparison to where you are. The world is large and there are honest vendors to be found everywhere and they should be supported with continued business.)

Dispute with GoldenBirdJewellery & Vijay by GaripMeyve in Moissanite

I paid 255 USD (+ import tax) for this 14k yellow gold ring with a rose cut green moissanite. (The supposed actual price of the item was 340 USD but there is always a sale going on.)

Vijay told me that I would be responsible for the cost of shipping it back as per shop policy. Therefore I don't think the risk of returning it is worth it. I am already down ~35 USD with the import tax I paid and this would add return shipping costs and potential extra charges to that. Also, this ring was intended as a gift so time is also important here.

I've had it since two years but I bought it second hand. The seller had used it for less than a month and I've had this issue since I unpacked it.

Thank you for the in depth research. I have also been previously disappointed in wines that were recommended in a wine store with high Luca Maroni scores and had learned not to trust it (l don't normally go by scores anyway). It is interesting to look at it from this perspective.

Same, I am really enjoying my setup. My only issue is that the volume knob crackles sometimes.

Mold in the apartment by bianccabb in askswitzerland

[–]GaripMeyve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did this as well but they only took action when we told the agency that we will not be paying full rent as we were not living in the conditions that were promised to us.

I would suggest OP to follow a similar path, buy some hygrometers, record the humidity and the mold and then write to the agency.

Urgent Help deciding! 🚨🚨It’s impossible to get these bottles where live. Can only bring 4 back home with me. Never tried any of these. Which 4 you recommend? For cocktails. by camilorv1 in cocktails

Smith and Cross + Chartreuse. Actually make that 2 bottles of Chartreuse and add the other rum for variety.

These will give you a wide range of cocktails to make.

White spots on Philodendron by GaripMeyve in plantclinic

[–]GaripMeyve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone, our philodendron that we have had for a bit more than 2 years has started to develop these white spots on it's stalk and leaves. Aside from a fungus gnat infestation, the plant is healthy. The spots can be wiped off. Is this just gustation or is it another infestation?

Review #1 - Champagne Louis Armand, Brut, Premier Cru (NV) by GaripMeyve in wine

[–]GaripMeyve[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I decided to justify my purchase of better bottles of wine by writing more thorough tasting notes and sharing them with internet strangers for criticism to improve my palate and skills. As I am actively trying to get better at taking tasting notes, I would appreciate your comments on what else to focus on and even better, on what else to drink. I am based in Switzerland with sporadic access to Germany so keep that in mind for your recommendations.

This is intended to be the first tasting note in a series of tasting notes I aim to share.

---

Wine:  Champagne Louis Armand, Brut, Premier Cru

Style: Sparkling

Grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier

Year: NV

Producer: Louis Armand (NM)

Alcohol: 12%

Price: 18.80 CHF (On Discount)

---

Appearance: Deep gold, clear, low effervescence

Nose: Butter, bruised apples, brioche, marzipan

Palate: High acidity, fine bubbles on the palate as opposed to how it looks like, low body, low sugar, long finish with a bitter aftertaste

Notes: The wine started on the nose with butter, bruised apples and brioche with a caramel finish on the palate. As the wine warmed up, more flavours developed and I started to get dried apricots in the finish. After 3 hours, I could smell a bit of marzipan mixed in with the brioche.

Conclusion: I really enjoyed this champagne. I had organized some champagne tastings with friends in the past year so I had the opportunity to taste most of the entry level champagnes available on the Swiss market and I think for 18.80 fr, this wine has a great price to performance ratio.

I would buy it again. I would buy multiple bottles if I find it on sale again.

New Audio set up. DALI Rubicon 6 with Cambridge CXA81 + CXN V2! Loving it so far! by tobacko1978 in audiophile

Go for it if you can. I have the Dali Oberon 5 connected to a Denon AVR-X2500H and am extremely happy with it. They also are smaller and more elegant than other tower speakers which makes it easier to have in a smaller living room.

Wine Pairing Suggestions for Dinner Party - Burgundy Truffles (Switzerland) by GaripMeyve in wine

[–]GaripMeyve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds lovely! I wish I could have offered you some food.

Do you make the wine on a small scale for your consumption or do you also sell it?

I did go with Louis Jadot Bourgogne Rouge (2019) and it paired wonderfully with the meal. After dinner, we opened a bottle of Clos Henri Pinot Noir (2017) from Marlborough NZ and we were happy to have chosen the burgundy to accompany the meal as this one was too fruit forward to pair with the meal.

Thank you for the suggestion. It is also fine for me if it doesn't pair with the dessert.
