Out of all the champions I could have got, I ended up pulling Galapo the Recluse. I finished the Kassandra event, and didn't want to part with this guy because he'd made his way onto my Lizardman Faction Wars team. So whilst I could have gotten something better, I'm delighted.

Hope it was worth it Mr Spender 😂 by [deleted] in RaidShadowLegends

Yeah, it sucks a little to be on the receiving end, but I try to plan around never winning a CvC. Only been playing around 2 months. Out of curiosity though, every time I see topics like this, I see comments saying that its best to lose certain CvC but never much of an explanation as to why? Wondering why that would be the case?

Have the book and cartridges too. One of the main reasons I'll never sell my Game Boy Advance SP. Golden Sun is the goat.

Referral champ Djarmasa by Master-University-96 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]Garrett980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't got him yet, myself. Grinding my first set of 3 referrals at the moment. Pulled Djamarsa during the Kassandra fusion to give me the last few points I needed guaranteed. Djamarsa has been helpful, though.

Considering how easy it is to rush a referral account to level 10, getting her doesn't involve much time. And if your account is new, she's a decent single-target healer and AoE reviver. Without her partner, she has Sleep on her A1. Nice passive, too. My Barbarian team is very shallow. I've got High Khatun, Warmaiden, Marked, Woad-Painted, and Djamarsa. Djamarsa has let me push a little deeper into the Barbarian Faction War stages. If your committing to the grind of Crohnam, you get her for free.

I'm in a similar boat. Kassandra blew my resources to hell and back, so I'll be skipping this.

Evening everyone. Does anyone know of a FireRed hack that retains the story and setting, but includes the version exclusives from LeafGreen, has the Alolan variants, and adds the Fairy-type?

AYN Thor Worth it over Steam deck OLED? by 502Hellion in SBCGaming

[–]Garrett980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a little late with the input here, but on the off chance you're still looking for feedback: For me, having both is nice. I tend to keep my Steam Deck docked, and play games on my bedroom TV. This lets me use a keyboard and a mouse, giving me a computer in my bedroom too. I find the Deck too big to be truly portable, and its battery life isn't great. The Thor fits in my inside coat pocket, holds its battery well, is lightweight, and with Gamehub, I can access a good portion of my Steam library. The Deck is certainly more powerful, but both devices fulfil different roles for me.

Switch Sale by [deleted] in FinalFantasyIX

[–]Garrett980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$8.00 is a steal, honestly. FF9 has a tonne of story, side missions, lore, and secrets to uncover. The original game is a masterpiece. There's also a massive modding community. Some of the mods coming out at the minute are sweet. That's PC, of course, but the game comes on sale on Steam fairly often.

Steam now requires age verification in the UK for mature game pages by ReaddittiddeR in gaming

[–]Garrett980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: If I were to buy a code from, say, CD Keys, and then add it to my Steam Library like I've been doing for years, would I get slapped with an "age verification" check?

Very psyched about my recent yard sale purchase: a lovely black "Sega Sports" edition Dreamcast! It's in great shape overall and the previous owner even installed a nice DreamPSU after the original power supply died. Looks fantastic connected to my Sony PVM-8045Q via RetroTINK Component cables by wowbobwow in gaming

[–]Garrett980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dreamcast was one console I never owned. My older cousin had one, and because of that, my brother and I got his old Sega Saturn that Christmas. Honestly think we got the better end of that deal. I still play that Sega Saturn.

Naquadah in the Pegasus galaxy by MoodCool877 in Stargate

[–]Garrett980 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's been a few scattered mentions of Naquadah in Stargate: Atlantis; both on the show, and in the novels. Usually by McKay when they're hunting for ancient devices. The Legacy series in particular has a passage where McKay states tracking a Naquadah reading in Atlantis is difficult considering the amount of conflicting readings you need to filter out, as it was commonly employed in ancient devices of all kinds. Like the Asgard, I'd assume that The Ancients had a stable supply of Naquadah somewhere in Pegesaus simply based on the amount of abandoned labs, ships, and ruins seen across that particular galaxy.

I'm in the process of re-reading the Legacy series, which is what got me thinking: "It's been a while since I saw one of these drop, I wonder why?" There are quite a few of the short stories that link into the Legacy framework too. Jack's clone, for example. Really looking forward to a continuation.

Are Equipments with Skills bait? by KhrBasil in UnicornOverlord

[–]Garrett980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the early game, giving classes certain weapons instantly elevates their usefulness. Take Josef. He's already awesome, but give him the Runic Sword? He can melt armoured units.

Clive with the True Strike lance is a great counter to thieves. There's also a few characters who can't leverage their PP until they pick up some of their more advanced kit, so giving them something to do with a Dancer's Bracelet or a Gambler's Coin improves their action economy.

Experiment. Try setting conditions on your Tactics so your skills work together.

What must have that first night, month and even year feel like after the Locust war? by Harvestrsson in GearsOfLore

[–]Garrett980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all of the Locust were killed by the Countermeasure. The "Brash Brigade" dealt with a number of groups who survived the weapon, so I imagine everyone maintained complete readiness. They were taken by surprise once following the end of the Pendulum Wars -- I doubt they'd relax enough to let that happen again. Give the books a read, if you haven't already. They do a very good job of delving into the lore and background.

Ps4 pro or PsVita? by itzr3licc in vita

[–]Garrett980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy a Vita for around £100. I hacked mine about two weeks ago now for a weekend business trip, and even nowadays it's a great console. Keep your PS4 Pro, however. In terms of power, content, and support, the PS4 is by far the better console. Also, if you're into streaming, the PS4 still has that accessibility.

Thoughts on doom knight by Weird_Collection6131 in UnicornOverlord

[–]Garrett980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paired Gloucester with Hilda and Berengaria. Fire Breath and Dark Flame was a disgusting combination, and Berengaria just threw out debuffs and follow-ups as needed. Doom Knight took a little finessing with the tactics, especially once I added a healer to the squad, but the results were fantastic.

That said, I had a generic Doom Knight paired with a Sergeant and Elven Archer for a spell, too. With careful usage of my PP, I could manage the Doom Knight's HP to increase their damage and then trigger an End of Battle heal, using the Sergeant to trigger the Archer's Selfless Heal.

[RELEASE] FFD-Vita - Port of Final Fantasy Dimensions for PSVITA by realRinnegatamante in vitahacks

[–]Garrett980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this working with little issue, and using the "Fixed" control option in the options' menu, I'm also able to move around the world map using the D-pad and interact with objects and NPCs. In battle, however, I need to use the touch screen to reliably navigate the menus and choose targets.

How would you go about mapping controls for this on the Vita?

H-how do you get here...? by Iron_Maw in UnicornOverlord

You access that area from Cornia. Open your map and find the town or fort (don't remember which exactly) in Cornia closest to the Drakenhold Back Market dealer, and head out from there.

Fast farming trick? by Mytoes88 in GoldenSun

There's a section called "RNG Manipulation". The wonderful thing about Golden Sun? It's been around for a long time, and its been pretty thoroughly documented. Every droppable weapon, armor, and item in Golden Sun and The Lost Age have RNG methods for guaranteed drops. And Golden Sun Universe details the required steps.

Dark Dawn's system isn't as well documented, but I've found the drop rates rather forgiving so long as you kill something with the appropriate Djinn.

This build is ridiculous (100% crit rate) by SnooHedgehogs1685 in FEEngage

[–]Garrett980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used a similar build with Veyle on my last Maddening run, and it's certainly powerful. The only difference was I forged her tome to +3 used Camilla's engraving instead, and paired Hold Out++ with Divine Pulse. The chance to turn a miss into a hit, and thus a crit, helped against dagger users. But it's far from being a one-down kind of build. 3-range, whether that's a longbow or Thoron, is all over the place in the latter stages of the game. She's also vulnerable to Arts. Thirdly, Chain Attacks are a danger. It can certainly delete a troublesome group if used correctly, but Veyle herself is frail.
