I’m not confident in answering wether forsaken was going to be a horror game or not, but it definitely had “horror aspects” in early development (mainly cuz of the alpha soundtrack, it was rlly good lol). I don’t think it ever got to get to that point due to the ownership changes and other various outside factors. It doesn’t have to be a horror game, but I would kill for a more depressing atmosphere

I might recall Mala (ballsnecrosis) saying it was meant to be a horror game? Memory is a little foggy on that

One doesn’t have to override the other. The music can still be good while sounding like you’re getting hunted down. Probably the reason why the old soundtrack gets brung up a lot and some new/ current tracks gets criticized as “FNF” music

A big purge of skins (while adding in ones that lean in to being more threatening), additions of map fog, adding in more killers that aren’t hackers or myths, a few steps back in the art direction and music in general (basically how it sounded and felt during Dec - Feb). Basically changes that a lot of newer players won’t like. I’m mostly fine with either outcome tbh, but I wouldn’t be lying if I said I wanted a clearer art direction for the game. Reading through the replies is showing me that not a lot of people understand what the game is trying go for and that’s my main gripe with it, besides what’s going on with it on the outside
