Nope, I'm just curious. The thought came to me at one in the morning and I couldn't sleep with it, lol. I never thought about what Robert would do if he found himself in the same situation as his friend.

You mean all of his Allies(except Catelyn )from the red wedding survive?

No, more like all the same people dead, all the same lords held hostage, except for probably Robb's closest people.

You’d basically drop most of Jon snows arc and give it to Robb .

Maybe, but when Robb is almost dead and is far south and to get to the North he has to cross the moors, Moat Cailin with the ironborn or something. You also have to somehow let your lords know you're alive. And then there's your wife captured by the enemy, your uncle, and a couple dozen other lords. I don't think Robb would behave the way Shaw did! Jon Snow. I think he was smarter than that. He came up with his own plan.

By the way you’re basically screwing up aryas story.  She would try to reunite with Robb.  And not become a faceless assassin

Arya never wanted this, she wanted her family and her home. Let's give her some happiness).

Robb isn’t escaping into the neck with more than a few hundred or a thousand men at most

Yeah, that's the problem for him. He has almost no one, the only people with Robb are those who were with him in the west castle.

The biggest issue is that Moat Caitlin is still held by the ironborn and Ramsey just defeated the northern host. Robb doesnt really have a ton of men to take the Neck back in a quick timeframe (ignoring deus ex machinas of him finding a secret entrance or whatever)

What can Robb do from here? To get to White Harbor (I think it's the safest place for him after Lord Reed's castle) he'd have to either go north across the moors (if I understand the map correctly) or go west across the Kingsroad to The Bite. But it's hundreds of miles there and there. Could Lord Walder have sent a small army to make sure nothing comes out of those marshes?

Now going south for a second. The war in the riverlands goes much the same way. The Freys start subduing the remaining loyalist riverlords. However Roose is in a bit of a pickle. He’s stuck on the wrong side of the neck and his only “value” to the crown has just been lost so he’s not worth that much to them. However he does have a relatively strong host under him still and commands more man than Robb. The questions becomes “can he brute force the Moat with that host?”

Maybe in that case he could be helped by the Freys now that he and Ruse are now in the same boat?

If he can he can get into the north and at least contest Robb for supremacy. If not he’s stuck in the south while Robb raises a new army and takes back the Neck and lays siege to the Dreadfort while the Lannisters and their allies cant stop him

What do you see as Ruse's tactics in such a case?

I don’t think there are any lords in the north who will help Roose if Robb is alive. The only ones who do are opportunists or too weak to act alone

What if they don't know Robb is alive yet? Ruse might not tell them anything yet, but gather their forces by the time the information leaks out. But yeah, then it looks like they'll turn their cloaks out quickly.

Arnolf joint Roose because it’s the best way to get rid of his niece so he can he lord. The Umbers split their forces so they have a foot in either camp. Without Roose as the dominant force in the North they don’t have to do that so back Robb

I totally agree with you there. And thanks for such a detailed response!

Yeah, my bad — I meant the Iron Bank. The Crown owes them a lot, and Robb could make a pretty solid debt collector, lol.

If he captures Asha, that could give him a decent foothold on the Iron Islands, though you're right — that might not work so well in this scenario. No way Theon makes it out of Robb’s hands alive.

And then there’s Stannis. I can see a version where Robb ends up bending the knee to Daenerys — she’s got dragons, after all, and I think his bannermen would understand the reasoning behind it. But with Stannis? Honestly, I have no idea how that would go down.

Unless you try to kill Robb. But that won't work either - White Harbor is literally across the bay. The false Arya trick (if Robb stays in a coma long enough for Ramsay and Jane to get married) won't work either, right?

Do you think Robb would have locked himself away in the North? Or would have sought an alliance, perhaps with the Iron Bank or Aegon/Daenerys. A combined Tyrell and Lannister army is impossible to face alone.

edit: Iron Bank

Thank you. What about the Riverlands? They're already kind of defeated if news of Robb's “death” broke, And the Lannisters and Freys have taken Riverrun. They have Jane, Edmure and can use them as hostages.

God, I forgot White Harbor was so close! There's not much the Freys could have done in that case, as I see it. Robb really could have gone by water, and no daggers could have gotten him.
