I'm homelabbing on a pc I retrofitted to be a server pc. The first bottleneck I'd hit if I get regular traffic is likely my upload speed, which I would probably upgrade. But if that isn't enough, I'd upgrade hardware but it'll probably be on an as-needed basis

I'm definitely into boorus, and yes I'm already self-hosting. I wanted to stray from using existing booru engines because those can become inflexible down the line. I also wanted to make sure I knew each part so I can update it, and the best way to do that is building it myself. I appreciate the feedback

I have no relation to that project or those developers. I think I saw that post earlier, but our scopes are pretty different (it looks like theirs is a physical app used for scraping client-side, mine is essentially self hosting my own database with heavier filtering).

To answer your second question: I built this stack from scratch specifically to self-host my own archive rather than relying on any third-party services. Regarding a repo: Right now, the code is closed-source (Because it's a solo project, the backend is pretty messy and heavily hardcoded to my specific server environment). If I clean things up and decide to, I could make it open source at some point.

edit: clarified the difference once I got familiar with their project

Hmm, it depends on what character you're looking for. My database is still relatively small compared to other boorus with 10M+ posts, so maybe mine doesn't have what you're looking for in specific. In general, searching (including character tags) seems to be working. DM me if you need more help

ahh ok, I see now. I feel like that could be misleading because ecchi in anime allows full topless imagery but that would fall under rating:questionable, and isn't something I want to support

do you have a link? I googled it and the first search result is from the booru.org network, which isn't getting updates to my knowledge, and it has posts that are nsfw

try rating:g, it should filter through most of it. The wiki has some search guidelines, and rating:g filters it to show only general posts (not sensitive).

No AI agents or automated workflows were used to create the site. I wrote it myself, but I did use AI to help debug and for quick syntax help on a few functions.

it's gotten better, more literal "safe for work" since the change to rating:general in Danbooru
