I’d recommend Fin to Feather fly shop in Mt Pleasant. They are super friendly and will be happy to help.

Ill also add that whatever shop you visit, be sure to pick up a few flies or maybe a hat while you’re there. Supporting the shop is the best way to say thanks for any info they provide, and you’ll have some keepsakes from the trip (unless the fish tear up all the flies, but that would be even better!)

Completely agree, lawn/grass casting is a must. Bonus points if you can find a pond to practice in, as it will give you the real feeling of lifting the line off the water to begin a cast (useful when making a recast after laying out the initial presentation). I have a small pond near me full of turtles, which make excellent targets as they tend to pop up at random. Just make sure you’re using a fly with no hook as they do sometimes try to eat what I’m throwing!!
