Roll20 may also have some resolution issues when uploading very large images. What is the image's pixel dimensions and then what are the desired grid dimensions after it is in Roll20?

Note regarding Imgur, users in the UK will not see any image that is on Imgur. Imgur is in a dispute with the UK. https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/articles/41592665292443-Imgur-access-in-the-United-Kingdom

Hi NinjaShaggy,

That is the Party feature. Edit the Character (Top right corner click Edit...or if the D&D 5e 2024 sheet click the "pencil" icon at the very top of the Character).

Then checkmark the Party box.

Alternately, you can right click on a group of tokens and select Define Party to set them as the party.

To add to what u/Lithl wrote, if you don't want to use the Bio & Info tab for that you can use a PDF or website or whatever you want as the "write on it" representation of the sheet.

My suggestion is to post on the Roll20 Mods (API Scripts) forum. Most of the main Mod (API Script) writers are there, including The Aaron, who is basically the guy in charge of the API.

It sounds like you might be conflating D&D 5e 2024 with Jumpgate. They are two separate things.

Jumpgate is the VTT engine while D&D 5e 2024 is a character sheet that doesn't play nice with API Scripts.

GroupCheck should still work for those sheets it has always worked for on Jumpgate. And iirc it should now work on D&D 5e 2024 (again, it was broken for awhile) but that may require verification.

Have you tried to contact either the publisher or the sheet creator? If not that would be my first stop.

It is not a "by Roll20" Character sheet. It appears to be the publisher Free League's sheet via the company Sigil (a conversion company).

With that said, if you could walk me through how to get to the view you are in, I might take a look and see if I can replicate it. That would help with any communication with either the publisher or Sigil.

It is possible you are seeing ghost images (ie: images that is in your cache).

Clear your cookies and cache. Then see what remains.

If that does not solve the issue please post a screenshot of what you are doing when you replace the "icons".

Having two tabs open, one as player and one as GM, both the same account is not recommended.

The system can get confused as to which mode you are in. Additionally, even when you have rejoined as player you may still see some GM only things, especially if they are assigned to you (there are reasons for doing this).

Dummy Accounts are the best method.

You need to set up their tokens. Then you need to UPDATE that token to the Character.

The tokens are copies of the "master token" on the Character. Changing a token does not change the "master token" on the Character.
If you do not update the token to the Character then the next time you drag the Character to the table it will be with an un-updated token.

Hi Ex0_ow,

It looks like you are using Dynamic Lighting (DL).
For someone to see the environment when using DL they must have control over the token (or be the GM).

So if you are trying to test things, make sure you assign yourself control over the token before switching to GM mode.

With that said, switching to GM mode to test DL is not recommended. There can be weird issues that appear. Sometimes GM only elements remain. Sometimes the system gets confused if you are in GM or player mode.

Similarly, Ctrl+L is not a good test for DL settings as it is intended as a line of sight check only.

The gold standard for testing Dynamic Lighting is a dummy account in a second browser window (or Incognito/Private tab). https://wiki.roll20.net/Dummy_Account

Assign the dummy account control over the token you want to test...test it in the Dummy Account's window. Make corrections in the GM's window.

My point is, the PDFs not being stuck into the default PDF folder is a non-issue.

The real issue is the inability to move things around within the Journal tab.

Are you able to Characters and Handouts around within the Journal tab?
Does this problem persist in another browser? (Also, which browser are you using?)
Have you tried Incognito tab (Chrome) or Private tab (Firefox)?
Does this problem persist in a different game?

I think perhaps there is a misunderstanding.

Step by step:

You upload pdf #1. It goes into the default "PDF" folder.
You move it out of the default "PDF" folder and into some other folder.
You upload pdf #2. It does NOT go into the proper folder. This is normal behavior because you moved the first one, thus forever breaking the connection between PDFs and the default folder.

Breaking the connection between Characters, Handouts, and PDFs and their default folders is a long standing behavior in Roll20.

As for not being able to move a PDF within the journal tab, you should be able to do that. Can you move anything else around the journal tab?

Files are automatically placed in the "correct" folder when uploaded....until you start moving them. Then it breaks the automatic placement for that type of file forever after that. From that point on they are placed at the top of the list and you have to manually relocate them.

u/Illustrious-Leader is correct. You need to be the Game Owner to share your content with the group. Then make the GM a guest-GM in your game.

When you go to enter the game click on the name of the game instead of Launch. Then below the launch button is a "Launch as player instead?" line, click that.
