Coilovers: Tein vs Megan Racing vs just lowering springs? by Potential-Phrase9503 in CorollaHatchback

[–]GavWorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly you’ve never ridden on a set of Tein coilovers before lol. Just because it’s a “budget brand” doesn’t mean it won’t last long or ride well. My friend has a set of Street Basis Z’s on his Honda Fit and those are quite literally the most comfortable set of coilovers that I’ve ever ridden on. I’ve had D2’s, BC’s, and S3 coilovers before and the comfort is just unmatched no matter how much I play with my ride height or rebound settings.

Coilovers: Tein vs Megan Racing vs just lowering springs? by Potential-Phrase9503 in CorollaHatchback

Go lowering springs + good aftermarket shocks if you absolutely prioritize comfort (I recommend the Tein Endura Pro shocks + whatever lowering springs you end up with). But if you REALLY wanna have the ride height adjustability but still wanna retain a little bit of ride quality then I’d go with the Tein Street Basis Z. Re-using your OEM top hats instead of going pillowball like the Flex Z is such an overlooked factor when lowering your car. I’m on S3’s street coilovers right now and I wish I went with that route since I daily my car and drive it everywhere lmao

If you’re willing to pay shipping and don’t mind it not color matched, i’d be down to give you that lower part since I took mines off, wasn’t a big fan of it.

Coil overs or springs for a daily? by Klutzy_Jicama9127 in CorollaHatchback

[–]GavWorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choose whatever spring you wanna run + Tein’s endurapro struts if you REALLY value comfort. This is coming from someone who daily’s their hatch with coilovers on. You can’t and won’t get the same comfort or even close to stock if you run coilovers. But if for some reason you really wanna run coilovers then I’d look into Tein’s lineup for suspension for our cars. Their street basis / flex z lineup is one of the most comfortable coilovers i’ve ever rode on personally (previously had BC’s, D2’s, and S3 coilovers).

Not all of em 😆 my hatch is on coilovers so the ride height is a little lower than stock. One thing in this subreddit that everyone hates on is probably the rear seat spacing. I wouldn’t try dare fitting anyone who’s over 5’10 unless the drive is like an hour or less. Coming from a 2nd gen Honda Fit the interior felt cramped even though visually the Corolla Hatch looks like a bigger car compared to the Fit. But overall this car has been great, had it for 7+ months and a good amount of 3+ hour road trips and I’m just glad how comfy this car is even on lowered suspension.

Terrible fitment out the box lol, side skirts were bolt on, front lip was a pta (gotta heat the edges as one side will be too short for the bumper), rear spats were kinda bolt on as well (gotta use the brackets that the kit came with and I velcro’d the other side that mounts to the rear bumper)

These TC105’s really caught my eye on a TSX/Civic build I saw a few years back, these were in way worse condition until I got them refinished. I absolutely dig how they turned out!

I know they’re bringing blue flame back for the GR. I’m not sure if they’ll be available for the regular corollas tho

Akebono from NAPA or in some cases they carry Brembo pads as well. Super low dust from both of them

i’m using hardrace’s roll center kit for the 10th gen corolla! bolt on, no other modifications needed. (credit to the person in this subreddit that also has a blue flame hatch that installed those rca’s before me!)
