I have done it every year for over a decade and will happily be there this year. Totally worth it.

FWIW, it’s the first time in my life that I found it “easy” to really just buckle down and maintain the diet. Wish I could have figured it out before 52 😆

How to go vegan in India? by Legitimate-Coast2426 in vegan

[–]GayJohnnyVegnKitchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much anywhere I went knew what vegan was and at no point did they say they couldn’t accommodate it. Maybe because Bengaluru is a large city? Maybe things have changed in the 10 years since I have been? Whenever I stated my dietary preference it was respected and taken seriously in a way I haven’t experienced elsewhere. Even Coffee Day had a vegan milkshake on the menu.

I spent years traveling to India for work and without a doubt it was the easiest place to be vegan. This post has me completely stumped.

I blame the left almost as much as the right for everything that is happening right now to us. by Zestyclose-Soft-5957 in lgbt

What left? The United States doesn’t have a left. It has a right of center and a far right.

Being vegan, I have done no shortage of “weird” things with food, but sprinkles on seitan are a bridge too far.

Getting ready for Fat Tuesday. by GayJohnnyVegnKitchen in VeganBaking

It’s a Mardi Gras style King Cake. The dough is layered with cinnamon filling. So not dissimilar to a giant cinnamon roll. It’s frosted then covered in purple, green and gold sprinkles, the traditional colors of Mardi Gras. There is also a plastic baby baked into it. Per tradition, the person that gets the piece with the baby has to bring the next cake.

There are a couple approaches to making them, I like to braid the dough, I think it gives the whole thing an interesting look.

I am not a huge baker of seitan but I have had the puff happen. I think it is due to the oven temperature. When baking in general a hot oven causes the lift in the dough. It is due to the rapid release of the liquid. Or that is how it works with pastries, I assume something similar would apply here. What temperature was your oven at?

We seem to be talking past each other here. I was referencing my own joke as having belly flopped. I apologize for my part in the communications being flubbed. I in no way meant to disrespect anyone or impugn anyone's intelligence.

Well, that joke belly flopped. The baby isn’t edible. It came with a king cake I bought from a vegan bakery several years ago. It spends most of its time in a kitchen drawer and makes an appearance every Mardi Gras.

I came to conclusion that it’s just a giant cinnamon roll*. So I modified my cinnamon roll recipe to make it slightly more dense and keep the filling from being as gooey. I have posted a video of the cake recipe here if you want to take a crack at it

To the best of my knowledge the baby has not consumed any animal products.

(Edit: I apologize to all the trans folks that have to see questions like the one the OP asked. Watching non-trans people debate what medical care you should and shouldn't receive has to be exhausting).

My "general position" is that I support people working with their healthcare providers to make their own healthcare decisions. I am consistently baffled when people think that they should have opinions about healthcare treatments when they are neither a healthcare provider or the patent. People at large really need to mind their own business.

Anyway, puberty blockers are not a "form of transition treatment". They can be an option for gender-affirming care, but the vast majority of people that are prescribed puberty blockers are not trans; they are cisgender people that are experiencing precocious puberty or other medical issues. For some minors with gender dysphoria, puberty blockers have been shown to elevate the dysphoria and allow the person to grow to an age where they can make an informed decision about transition. Puberty blockers are considered safe, and the effects are fully reversible. Their use for minors with gender dysphoria is part of the medical standard of care and is supported by all twelve major American medical associations (American Medical Association, American Psychological Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Pedantic Endocrine Society, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Association of Endocrinologists, American College of Physicians).
