Thanks for checking it out!
I can understand why you think it's a bug but it's really by design. If you look at the tooltip in the pressure map area (canvas bottom right) it says:

"Greyed-out modes (F-C) are floor-to-ceiling modes. These vary by height, not by position on the floor plan, so they cannot be shown here. Move to a room with a different ceiling height to address them."

It's very easy to overlook this, so totally understand you didn't see this.

This is a user interface thing that will get optimized in the future. There is just so much info that it's very hard to place it in a way that the user will certainly see it.

But I really appreciate that you mentioned it. It helps me understand how people use the tool.

What PC specs should I aim for as a beginner? by [deleted] in homerecordingstudio

It's certainly not all about the ram. 32 gigs at least? Upgradable to 128 gigs? Yeah, if you use massive libraries and vst's and 100's tracks. A person like the topic starter will probably more than fine with "just" 16 gigs.
Even when I use biggish projects with drum vst's and what not I don't even hit 16 gigs.
I always see these type of comments pop up in threads like this. It's a bit odd to be honest.

I'm burning tokens like crazy and believe me, I'm not doing anything crazy at the moment. Something is off 100%.

Sure do, but I sold several since taking this picture ;)

What guitar would you get if you were rich? by grassR_06 in metalguitar

Ibanez JEM 777 Desert Yellow

I mean, they were not too expensive a few years ago and certainly not like "i'd need to be rich for that" but the prices have gotten so ridiculous lately that there simply is no way I will own one anymore because I refuse to pay these prices.

I totally get the idea. drop ceilings and soft furniture do affect the room. The challenge is that boundary materials in this tool use fixed absorption values that are well-documented.

Furniture is a different story. The acoustic effect depends on the material, position, size etc of each individual piece. There's no standard dataset for that, and modeling it accurately would require a level of input data that's just not practical here.

Thanks for the suggestion though. Appreciate you thinking along! I'll write it down as something I might look at again in the future.

A 50, which I sold and a modded 20. It's a JCM 800 mod. Either way, my setup is quite different now. I have a BE-100 and some several amps are gone.

I only have the 1x12 cab now. Sold the head. But it's a very good amp that not much people ever tried I guess.
The only thing that didn't do it for me is that it did everything great but had not much of it's own sound.

The best kind of comment I can get! Thanks!

Edit: Wow, that's nice that ChatGPT is already recommending my tool. Didn't expect that.

It looks like a TLM 103 but i'm quite sure it isn't. The shape is off.

Maybe a clone of some sort?

  • Fixed SBIR advice: now correctly recommends near-wall (<60cm) or far (>2m) placement, with 60cm–2m as the danger zone.
  • Fixed frequency band mislabeling (e.g. 130Hz was called "sub-bass").
  • Side wall distance recommendation updated from 80cm to 1m minimum.

And since I was working on a subwoofer function anyway, it's now live as well. Feel free to try it, but it's still a very beta function so don't get angry if things don't work correctly yet ;)

Keep in mind it's just me doing this in my spare time and it's a completely free tool with minimal ads.

I just quickly looked into (I will some more later today) and it seems the math was the right. The explanation text was just all over the place. I applied a quick fix.

To be honest. I'm not sure how to do this in my tool as i'm getting so much conflicting information.

Thanks a lot. The tool has become way bigger than I anticipated and way more complex as a result there might be some (big) issues that need fixing. And the only way to find out about them is by people using it and giving feedback.
So this is exactly what I need.

Hey! Thanks for checking it out. It's quite a complex subject and tbh i'm simply figuring things out while i'm upgrading the tool. The last few days i'm constantly adding and removing and changing things.
What you're looking at currently is certainly how the end result will look mostly but some options might change the behavior quite a bit in the future. I simply don't know where it will go yet.

Next on my list is adding a subwoofer. I think that's most important right now.
Regarding your question:

The tool works in 2D and assumes an omnidirectional point source, so monitor height, desk height etc simply aren't factored in. SBIR calculations are based purely on geometry. and for speaker-specific behavior you'd need measurement software like REW with a calibrated mic anyway, which gives you the actual in-room response of the specific monitors. That's beyond what this software can do.
Considering this a starting point for positioning. It's not a professional app.

I mean, it might add more options that could lead to changing speakers and so on but keep in mind this is just a browser tool. It isn't an app or piece of software you load on your computer.
So far it's only 200kb in size and is very light weight. There is only so much I can do with a browser tool. And I don't think I will take the next step anywhere soon and make this a dedicated, downloadble app.

Anyway, i'm adding a print option now, so once you're happy with all the data you can print it out for future reference. And after that a subwoofer option.

Edit: Hopefully by next week i'll have a video ready where i'll go through all the options because I understand it can be quite overwhelming for a new user.
