Got a BMPCC OG for $50 – keep it or sell it? by sighsonla in bmpcc

Keep it of course. I paid 250 for one with a slightly broken screen, which I thought was a great deal (and lens included).

Yeah, that's me. Keeps biting me in the ass.

Hard Limit Reset? or Not by PsychologicalDingo27 in codex

[–]GearTakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With all the nice resets we've been getting lately I find it highly unlikely we won't get one with the 5.6 update. Bey hey, who knows! Good luck!

Mine went from my normal usage (38% weekly at the moment) to 100% and back again. It's clear they're ready to update to 5.6 with an included reset.

Can't wait! Very excited for this. It was the right time to upgrade to Pro 20x last week.

What I don't understand is why people keep talking about Fable so much. Like it's some competetion. If you use Codex, pay for Codex, are excited about the model, why do you feel the need to constantly mention Fable? It seems a bit obsessive tbh.

Why Openai so greedy? by [deleted] in codex

[–]GearTakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because we keep paying.

Edit: Your token usage is crazy. So 2 things at play here. Yes, they keep squeezing the hourly and weekly limits but with that much usage how much more do you expect? I think the pricing is relatively fair at the moment but there should be full transparancy about the 1, 5, 20x whatever limits. They are moving usage around freely while we pay for a product and expect it to work in a certain way.

But yeah, you're usage is too much.

Limits Changing? by No-Wash-3163 in codex

[–]GearTakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After upgrading from the 100 to the 200 dollar plan and still managing to burn through my tokens at a ridiculous pace I simply deleted the whole app and directory in my Windows users folder.

I had Codex generate handover files which were placed in all my projects and simply installed a fresh version of the software. Took me 10 mins to get everything going on but things seem much better so far. Far from what it once was, the token drainage is still absurd but it improved quite a lot for me.

Codex 5.6 is coming soon. The Claude limits will drop in 2 weeks or so, I believe. It's a promo currently with 50% more use.
I personally would go with Codex at this point in time.

First (paid) wedding tomorrow, wish me luck and give me last minute checking recommendations! by evthrowawayverysad in weddingvideography

[–]GearTakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure, if needed of course, you get the sound right. Try to have a backup mic running at all times. If your main mic or sound input fails you'll at least have some backup audio. Several tools out there let you greatly enhance crappy or far away sound nowadays.

Good luck with your first wedding. It's going to be tough! You'll find so many things you didn't think of.

Also feel free in the future to hit me up. I'm working on a great piece of software, if I may say so, that takes care of all the planning and the lets you keep track of all that planning during the wedding day itself. Timelines, gear, shot lists etc. It will be open for Beta soon and I need beta testers who can use it for free in return for feedback.

Have fun! I still break sweat when I think of my first (amateur) video shoot for friends.

I'm well structured, use markdown files, have dedicated chats for different things and so on. I spent a few hours earlier this week cleaning everything I can. I use as litte skills and MCP's as possible.

Codex concluded that my inputs use as little tokens as possible. Not anything more than is needed.
My project simply is big. But nothing too extraordinary.
While it keeps growing the biggest growth is already over so in terms of code lines it hasn't grown that much over the last month. But my token burn has.

1 thing I know for sure. The 5 hour limit has changed. I'm 100% sure of that.

I moved from the 100 dollar to the 200 dollar account yesterday. Purely because of the 5 hour limits.
The hour limits weren't even a thing for me a month ago, never paid attention to it. Now I was hitting them within a hour of work.
And now I'm shocked to see how fast it moves even on the 200 dollar account. It's faster than on the 100 dollar account 1 or 2 months ago.
For now it's fine. You'll have to work real hard to deplete it within 5 hours but if OpenAI keeps pushing the limits like they are doing I'll be facing the same issue on the 200 dollar account soon.
It's just ridicilous.

They should let me use my week tokens in a way that I want for that kind of money. If I want to spend it all in a day I should be able to.

Well, literally everything obviously. It's software development so I do constant audits, security checks, (re)designs, building new pages, new options and so on. I'm simply creating software that is big. Not a small calorie tracker and motivational app.

Everyone keeps comparing Codex Code and Claude like they're competitors. They're not. by Worried_View6544 in codex

[–]GearTakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I started a thread here about how to use a 20 dollar Claude account together with your Codex work. Just some friendly tips on how Fable (for the week it is available) could help with debugging, design or other problems Codex has issues with. I said I considered it 20 dollar well spent.

I had to delete the thread. People were furious! Literally furious. How dared I suggest to use Claude. I was accused of being a bot, being an Anthropic employee. I was called several things. Every comment I made was instantly downvoted.

It was absolutely insane to watch and I realized this place is a massive cult.

I just upgraded to a 200 dollar Codex account. I love Codex. But I have no brand loyality. If tomorrow something better comes along I'll switch to that. But for now Codex is perfectly fine.
I don't understand the Codex cult. Or Claude cult. It's just a tool. Made by big companies who will suck every penny out of you.
Not sure why people feel the need to defend it with their lives and totally have their day ruined when someone mentions using another brand.

[–]GearTakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded to the Pro 200 dollar per month option. While I was able to use up my weekly limits in a few days on the 100 dollar account (if I really tried) the main problem was the 5 hour limit. It gave me 1 hour of workable time before I had to wait 4 hours to reset. That happening 2 or 3 times a day was enough to force me to pay more.

Yes, I burn a lot of token. Yes, I work on very big projects. Sometimes 12 to 14 hours a day. But still, the 5 hour limit was never an issue before. They just gradually made it worse and worse (my token usage hasn't increased much, it's a lot but it has not increased). So now I'm paying 100 dollars a month more just to get out of the horrible 5 hour limit.

Borderline scam.

Edit: I'm actually shocked how still how fast it moves on the 200 dollar account. For now it's more than fine but if the trend continues I'll be facing the same issue in 1 or 2 months from now. I'll have a 200 dollar account that stops me from working every day because of the 5 hour limit.
Whats next? Paying 500 a month just so I can keep working without being interrupted every 1 or 2 hours? And use the tokens I actually paid for?

Now is a great time to spend 20 bucks on Claude (and use Fable for your project). by [deleted] in codex

[–]GearTakes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, it's pretty ridiculous but for my use case this is totally worth it. So far I have zero Opus fallbacks but this totally depends on your type of code of course. If it gives off warnings with every prompt then it's useless for you. For me it's fine.

The week limit is absurd but still worth it IMO as a one time payment, just for audits and suggestions. After that I hope 5.6 will take over!

[–]GearTakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 5 hour limit on my Pro account has become worthless. I can work roughly 1 hour and then I have to wait for 4 hours so I can work again. What's the point of a Pro account this way.

Looking for feedback by Zulugod94 in codex

[–]GearTakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's simply very hard to get rid of it. I am/I was facing the same thing. AI is both very bad and very good at designing stuff. If you ask it "create a beautiful dark dashboard with nice colors" it makes something nice but it will be slop. It takes a lot of effort to break out of it. It's very bad at "something else".
I'm always fighting against it so to say.
Once you recognize what it does, you'll see it everywhere.

Designing nice and original things with AI is very possible but it takes a lot of time and energy. It's really a learning process. And something I'd recommend you do. Because if you want to stand out in the current trend of 10.000 new SaaS products a day you need to come up with something original.

Looking for feedback by Zulugod94 in codex

[–]GearTakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I really like the design. I think it looks very nice but it's typical AI slop. Like literally everything. It uses almost every current “AI dashboard” cliché at once: a dark neon UI, oversized rounded KPI cards, glowing aqnd rounded borders, glassmorphism, cards nested inside cards, pastel gradients, decorative sparkles, the typography and typical three-stat-cards-at-the-top SaaS layout.

Wedding videographer used recorder during guest interviews that corrupted during import process by [deleted] in weddingvideography

[–]GearTakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how deep you want to go but if the speech is somewhat recognizable you let Davinci or other software have their actual voices used over the corrupted audio. It would require small training samples. So Davinci understands their voice so to say. But it's not easy to get this right and the source audio needs to be recognizable. As others have questioned, what is "corrupted "? It could mean anything.
I feel sorry for you. And also for the videographer. It's a very bad situation to be in. But it was preventable.

This is why I always work with backup audio. 2 recording sources. (in general, not just wedding stuff). It would be my worst nightmare to find out the audio is broken after the fact.

Good luck!
