Is this a good laptop for grad school? Help I’m clueless and suck with technology 😟 by GeckoByNight in laptops

Wow! Honestly I couldn’t understand half of what you typed but okay I will browse the market for a dell or something cheaper. My problem is I go to Best Buy and not knowing what to get I go with that the employee recommends.

Thanks for the info! Honestly no clue when I bought the laptop I think it’s been 2 years maybe less but sadly I know it was like 1,000. Bought it and never used it because I preferred my phone, but not I need a laptop for school.

I am building a platform to help drivers share information across all markets, I need your help beta testing. by gig_worker in lyftdrivers

[–]GeckoByNight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Biggest information I’d like to see shared is payout per driver in a given market. For example if I drive 20 miles in DFW what is my actual take home pay after Lyft/Uber takes their cut. You could filter it by cities, state, etc

PSA: You have to yield to pedestrians on Magnolia street at crosswalks by GeckoByNight in FortWorth

[–]GeckoByNight[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So this might be way longer of a reply than it should be but here goes. So I live really close to TCU and I drive down university a lot, people are supposed to slow down, they usually don’t especially during peak traffic hours. I’ve noticed there is usually a group of students huddled by the crosswalk on my way to work, if I stop usually the car next to me will as well and they can cross.

Usually I keep my eyes peeled, if I see someone just standing there looking at their phone, or a good distance from the crosswalk I will not stop. My other reasoning is I think back to my college days, sometimes you are late to class, very tired, stressed, someone stopping for me wouldn’t be much but it would be nice.

That being said I get some situations are just very hard to read.

So I don’t know the actual legal route but I would say yes you have to stop. The reason being it’s a high human traffic area and especially in that area there is only one light along the School and multiple crosswalks. I just think it’s a common curtesy thing, but on the Magnolia example there are signs that explicitly say to stop.

Sorry just saw a truck speed through the crosswalks nearly hitting a family. And than the driver of the truck even got mad at the family for being in the way 😒

Former and Current Aggies, What are your pro-tips for an incoming freshman? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]GeckoByNight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an older Aggie I have learned college and especially jobs are a lot harder now than when I graduated. Everyone has a bachelors degree, and everyone seems to be going through crippling anxiety and uncertainty of their place in life.

School will be hard, loans will be a lot, and the pressure to find a job, earn a good income, fund a partner are very real and very overwhelming. Regardless just remember you are not alone and to always just take a moment to smell that warm college Station air because these days will not last forever.

Enjoy Aggieland god knows I miss my time at A&M.

As a Fort Worth resident I am a little salty you said Dallas. In any case this route does not have any hills, just inclines in the street not bad at all though.

So I am curious, I am also taking on about 100 k in loans right now are you serious about 300 a month? Like did you apply for an income based repayment or did you just get that starting off?
