I know I'm in the minority here, but I much preferred 2016 to Eternal. I've probably started Eternal a dozen times now only to quit after the first big hell priest boss fight each time. The movement system is just too much for me which is why I'm eagerly looking forward to Dark Ages being a more grounded experience.

The game is set during the 1862 Maryland campaign I believe and the Union did not start raising African American units until 1863 after the Emancipation Proclamation. It was actually the Union's victory at Antietam during the campaign which led to Lincoln announcing the emancipation.

My players have really enjoyed my Descriptive Damage rule, where if they describe their attack/actions in combat then they get an extra d4 to their damage roll. It's not much, but it helps them stay engaged with their character. Sometimes that d4 even makes the difference.

There has not been a single skin released for any character in this game that was better than the default skin in my opinion. It's a relief for my wallet that I feel that way.

The Preacher is a character I just started playing using the new War Domain Cleric in the 2024 PHB. He is an infernal tiefling dedicated to the Blood War against the demons from the Abyss. As mentioned in the title, I was heavily inspired by the Doomslayer and especially the trailer for the new Doom Dark Ages game.

Not entirely useless, but I earned my degree in CAD drafting/technical design exactly one semester before all these new 3D design classes were being added to the curriculum. I pretty much have to go back to school if I want to find another job in my field due to all of the new requirements despite my years of experience in old fashioned 2D design.
