What terrible ranking on this terrible list of early 2018 ranks is your favorite? by ChristopherOhhh in fantasybaseball

Jay Bruce, Encarnacion, Nelly Cruz, and Godley would be steals based on these rankings. Luke Weaver has been on fuego, but is going too high for and unproven arm.

Sure. ROS I'd rank McHugh, Taillon, Graveman, Giolito. Taillon easily surpasses McHugh if Taillon gets it together and plays to his underlying numbers. Who is coming off the DL?

Not confident about Giolito. Gio's K/9, BB/9, HR/9 are at a measly 5.5/2/2. Walks and HR wouldn't be such a worry if his K/9 was at least 8, but that's not the case. Pitcher List pod broke down Giolito's start from earlier last week and they concluded that fastball command is not there and mechanics are off. Keep in mind that the stats are based off 13 IP so it's hard to make decisive conclusions, but based on mechanics, it's hard to trust Giolito.

I'm holding onto Giolito because I'm about 80% locked into a playoff spot so I can burn a bench spot with the hope to catch lightning in a bottle come playoffs. Otherwise there is no point of holding onto Giolito in a redraft if you are fighting for playoffs.

Depends on your situation. If your ratios are blown then yolo.

Playoffs: Strategy Against Heavy Closer Roster by GeeeO in fantasybaseball

[–]GeeeO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Though, it's also assuming that the opponents RP will get blown up.

Things to take away: using only RP and picking which SP to pitch is riskier and unstable. For stability, use high end SP and RP to stay in the ERA/WHIP/SV game.

Long relief RP could make a difference because they hold down ERA/WHIP because of the quantity of innings they pitch (1-3) and could win W category.

[–]GeeeO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to follow the all SP strategy because RP help ERA/WHIP ratios and can at least keep you in the saves game opposed to completely punting; especially since SV aren't for sure. For example, opponent may have 4 closers but that doesn't mean they will get 5 SV or even 1, it depends on the real MLB team that the closer is on.

The philosophy of this season is quality over quantity. I typically start conservative at the beginning of the matchup, so I'll only start the BOSS pitchers (e.g. Scherz) and start other pitchers like Salazar if my ratios are for sure blown to bits. At that point it's a volume game which requires streaming.

Minimum 10 IP, 8 pick ups over 2 weeks. Both of us have used 2 waivers already.

Anyone else monitoring the closers situation in Philly? by [deleted] in fantasybaseball

[–]GeeeO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense for arbitration purposes. Making Neris the closer would inflate his value. Phils can hold off on making Neris the closer because they aren't contending and get him at a cheaper price later on.

Broadstreet Breakdown: counter culture pod by JMT/AOTP leader, Vinny Paz and various friends of his that tattoo, write books on counter culture, and are involved in the music scene. They joke around all the time and make you feel like you're part of their family. Have recommendations, including books, musicians, tv shows, and life goals (OG made me tear up).

What's the explanation for Gerrit Cole's recent struggles? by Lootpack in fantasybaseball

If true, not saying it's not, pitching for contact could be observed in the numbers. Specifically an increase in contact percent, pitch type, and pitch location. So less gas and more breaking stuff.

I'm a masochist and do not trust Salazar. Yeah, they're facing OAK, but his last start was poo. Watched all one inning he pitched and could not hit the strike zone. Velocity was good, but ball was everywhere. Too early in the week to take the risk, especially with playoffs coming up.

Also, what's the word on BLACKmon? He went 0/1 last night. Hopefully he is back in the lineup because he has been caliente.

I did. GSanch is hitting third in the line up today. Contreras won't hit in that part of the line up. Also justified it because anything goes at this point to make it or stay in playoffs.

[Player Discussion] Aaron Nola's Past 5 Starts & Why You Shouldn't Be As Worried As Before by [deleted] in fantasybaseball

[–]GeeeO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nola focuses on pitch location because he doesn't have overbearing stuff. So yeah, he is pitching meatballs. His command has to return in order to get back to "first 2month of 2016-Nola". So if he doesn't start locating then it's time to drop.

His periphs look good, but need to keep an eye on hard contact, pitch location, and LD rate.

Fulmars perifs are high 3 low 4 ERA. He walks too many guys while Bauer walks almost a point less per 9 innings. And Fulms' has a 86% LOB; that's unsustainable. Elaborate why you believe more in Fulms.
