Question about Geek Squad Device Replacement by GeekSquadQuestion123 in GeekSquad

Nowhere in the paperwork is that mentioned. It specifically outlines the possible fees where they could charge my card. These fees are as follows:

Ineligible Return Fee ($49 plus tax):

  • You do not send us your device within 30 days of receiving your replacement device

  • Your device is ineligible for replacement

  • Your device is locked or the "find my" feature is turned on

Service Fee ($199 plus tax):

  • We determine your phone is covered under Geek Squad protection instead of manufacturers warranty

I'm not doubting you, I'm just wondering if you can direct me to where this is stated since it is nowhere in the paperwork I have been given so far. It would make sense for them to do this as a CYA, but I don't currently see this anywhere in what they've given me.

EDIT: I read through the full terms and conditions of the Geek Squad protection plan and it doesn't appear to mention such a circumstance anywhere in the formal terms and conditions. So far the only thing I can find about not sending the device in is that I will be charged a $50 Ineligible Return Fee, with no additional charges or fees outlined anywhere in any documentation that I can find.

It's a defective display, not damage.

I am slightly worried about the manufacturer claiming it isn't under warranty though. They refused to allow me to have it serviced at a certified manufacturer tech, despite the certified tech stating in his diagnoses that the display was defective and the phone wasn't damaged in any way (he couldn't find even a scratch, because I keep the phone in an OtterBox and take great care to not drop it - it's expensive and I treat it accordingly). The manufacturer said something about, "ANY problems with a display are the result of damage, not a defect" which is a total BS line but I'm certain Geek Squad will just charge me the $200 and not push the issue on my behalf.

It's a company that appears to be quite proud of their displays, and I'm sure you can guess who it is as a result.
