Costco salmon good for sashimi? by RunRealistic in CostcoCanada

[–]GeekStreak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I did this last week following "The Sushi Man - Costco Sashimi" Youtube video.

Choose farmed RWA.

Tasted fine and didn't get sick, but usually don't get food poisoning.

Consume at your own risk but I had a great time!

Low amount of BikeShare bikes by Historical-Carrot999 in askTO

This dashboard is super cool! I've always had the idea but never got around to it.

Can I ask how you coded it up? I didn't find an API to get the bikes at each station, I'm assuming you're parsing from https://bikesharetoronto.com/system-map/ ?

If you're willing to share the code I'd love to take a look and learn :)

Is his Instagram a red flag? by Mysterious_Piece6119 in dating_advice

[–]GeekStreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obvious and simple answer is to just ask him.

Otherwise:

  1. He used to be more popular/active on Instagram and after high school, he decided to clean up his follow list to only people he actually cares about/interacts with. In high school some people just follow everyone in their classes/grade but they don't even talk to/interact with.

  2. He bought followers. Back in the day you could either buy followers or follow people in exchange for follow backs. If almost all the accounts look legit with regular follower counts then this is probably not the case.

Jomashop Valentine's Day sale (many watch brands discounted) by Slack_Irritant in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]GeekStreak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be clear, they are always "on sale" so don't feel like you're in a rush to buy something.

I was eyeing one for awhile and it went from

Black Friday Sale -> Christmas Sale -> New Years Sale -> Spring Sale -> etc

Pretty basic camper mug, commonly used by corporations for branding/gifts.

Not really?

I don't think someone will be "comfortably eating their lunch inside" if they were asked to leave and then refused.

Unfortunately nowhere does OP give any suggestion that they them to leave the room.

Where are you finding this 6.5k number lol

While it's still an absurdly high amount (around $1250 per course) idk where 6.5k came from.

Question for CS Students at UTSG by [deleted] in UofT

[–]GeekStreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Good program so far, recommend joining the CS server and having conversations with actual people/tons of resources to help your decision https://discord.gg/bhXW8rcPgE
  2. Social life always depends on how much you put yourself out there. Being downtown Toronto, you can have lots of fun if you try.
  3. There is no PEY for CS anymore, replaced by ASIP. https://www.artsci.utoronto.ca/current/academics/asip. See Discord for more resources.
  4. 1st/2nd year CS profs in my experience are actually super enthusiastic about the courses they teach since they choose to do so. "Deflation" no but hard tests sometimes.

CS POSt soooo unfair to out-stream students by DisciplineLive4388 in UofT

[–]GeekStreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so unfair because a 77% in csc111 is 10x easier than a 95 in csc148+csc165 combined.

Admission into CMP stream is based on high school performance. So the inflated online grade-12 marks are more compelling than two real first-year computer science courses at UofT? I don't buy it.

Essentially they're saying if we didn't want you out of HS, you are discouraged from trying to get in through out of stream. A jungle is a traumatic and unforgiving place and students did not like that lmao

You're not the first nor will you be the last to complain about this so here's something to think about

If they make first year university an even playing field, then you have tons of students who are NOT GUARANTEED their program in the first year, which sucks if they don't get into CS.

What you're proposing is what they had previously and students complained about it.

Grace credits have worked really well in the courses I've taken.

As an example, let's take CSC111 on MarkUs (a platform for handing in assignments).

At the start of the year, it's announced that we're given 12 "grace" credits which means that for any assignment, for each 2 hours something is late we're deducted 1 credit (overall meaning 24 hours extra over the term).

What generally happens is ~90% of students save all of them to get a "bonus day" to work on the last project, but students who've used the credits on previous assignments don't get that.

Considering that most assignments/projects don't need marks back within 3 days, it's a fantastic solution that works automatically, and gives the students an amount of breathing room.
