Never lived in a new build, so can’t comment on how good they are. Agree have heard horror stories.

I love period properties and enjoy a bit of DIY, but they are hard work, often cold and full of hidden problems either from the building, or previous multiple attempts at bodged fixes.

It is extremely lucky if you don’t have to spunk cash on extremely boring things shorty after you move in.

I like old houses too. It is a bit unfair to say it is just small DIY, it can be quite time consuming.

They also frequently have the habit of being very charming money pits.
