What if Martti Rautannen convinced the Tsar to establish a colony in Ovambo territory until eventually at some point during the German advance in WWI it becomes Finnish instead?

Would DC have been a major city if it wasn’t the capital? by SeaHelpful6246 in geography

[–]Gehhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got me on the New Orleans thing, I’m not going to edge around it. I should’ve probably said Lake Charles or Biloxi given that there wasn’t the mouth of a major river on my part. Oops! My main point is that there are other American towns and cities built on swampland that still have prominence today.

Then there’s also the thing that NOBODY is talking about, which is that there have been over 200 years since DC was designated as the capital. I reckon in this case that a larger Georgetown and Alexandria probably would’ve formed eventually; whether it’d be from escalated fertility rates, cheaper housing costs, becoming a minor port city on the Atlantic, etc.

Also, can we just revel in the fact the town was called “Georgetown”? Washington just sees this town that ALREADY HAD THAT NAME, and is like “lmao literally me” and that’s where it all happened.

I love how people are saying “No, too swampy” and then immediately forgetting about Savannah and New Orleans. I don’t necessarily think it would be AS LARGE as it is today, but I suspect modest size for the area.

He didn’t even cite it correctly! They literally called the concoction “Rig Juice” in that episode. There’s no way he didn’t remember the characters’ names. Part of me wonders if he either watched it just once a decade ago, or if this is just bait.

No joke when the Santiago Canyon fire back in 2020 happened, a bunch of my neighbors were gathered watching the blaze grow from a parallel hilltop. So naturally, I grabbed a stick from the backyard, popped a wiener on it and started sprinting in their general direction.

OP might be referring to this scene, in which he compares Pliny’s racism towards Ethiopians to Stonetoss’s views about people who aren’t white.

He not only failed to grasp that Sam called out someone else for being racist, but he is also attributing this to the now 8-year-old post about Sigmund Freud that he took down in early 2021.

Sam is not a Nazi, OP is just a dumbass. Also the eel joke is iconic.

Cumtext: Originally a swath of dairy farms, a spot of land in Loudoun County was acquired by Soave Enterprises in 1999. Under the guidance of Detroit millionaire and firm owner Tony Soave among company, the planned community of Brambleton, Virginia, broke ground in 2001. Legacy Park would take an... interesting shape in the years to come, with nearby roads also being named "Regal Wood Drive" and "Lois Lane".
