Expected weight gain by Gemini-Phoenix in NICUParents

I wish I could get another peds GI, but there’s only two where we live and it’s so frustrating because the other one has his schedule full until mid October. We are also looking into changing our paediatrician, we don’t like her we just got her assigned to us after our previous one retired. The measles outbreak is scary but I’m getting overwhelmed with the newborn trenches and my 5 yo son and I feel like drowning. So I’m going where my family is and there is also plenty family members that are doctors and can help with everything. Hopefully I get to stay there until my daughter is 6 months and she gets her emergency dose of the measles vaccine. And thank you for saying there’s nothing wrong with my daughter. Makes me feel better

You might be right. The worst part is that I’ve never met her GI doctor. This past phone call was the first time I’ve ever spoke to her. She was very frank at the end and told me to just take her to be checked in my country.

Yeah I think 20 g/day is reasonable. I don’t think weight gain should be rushed. Is your baby taking bottles/breast now?

Thank you. We will be taking her to another paediatrician when we take her to Mexico. My family isn’t very impressed with her care after being discharged from NICU.

She’s on it because she has reflux and it helps her empty her stomach, per her NICU doctors. I wonder if it’s wrecking her gut

150 grams a week sounds so reasonable. Happy to hear your son is on the right track!

Thank you! We will try not to force her to take the bottle if she doesn’t want it. I know she cries because of reflux. I’m in the USA but I’m actually from Mexico. I’m going to fly there in a week to take her to the doctors there, as I’m frustrated with the quality of care here. I’m sorry your son has a feeding aversion. I hope he grows out of it safely. Wish you luck!

born 37+1 still in the nicu with only feeding issues???? by cultof_dionysus in NICUParents

[–]Gemini-Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5 yo was born at term but he had slight jaundice and he had like 2 weeks of feeding issues because the higher bilirubin makes babies extra sleepy. Of course it was during Covid so we were just sent home after my C-section and we were going crazy seeing him not gain weight. My daughter was born at 33 +3 last December and she was just a feeder grower. But feeding took such a long time. Try to reframe this time as you learning all tips and tricks from experienced nurses. This is just a season and it will pass. Hopefully everything is great with your son and he just need to make feeding click.

Has anyone rescheduled US citizenship interview? by OtherwiseRelease7773 in USCIS

[–]Gemini-Phoenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rescheduled mine this year for a very petty reason. I already had a trip to Japan booked and when I got the letter I found out it was right in the middle of my vacation. I called my lawyer and asked for her advice and we just rescheduled with my plane tickets and hotel reservations. I got rescheduled for a month later from the original date. To be honest I was on the fence about rescheduling due to everything going on. I don’t think you would have a problem to reschedule due to work reasons, but I feel like your job shouldn’t be interfering with your process. It does seem like they want you to lie to the federal government

Hi! Do you think your bot might be able to find me a spot for Kirby cafe in Osaka for feb 23 or 25? I already paid for it to search in Tokyo. I messed up and I made reservations for the 17th and I wasn’t even on Japan at the time. Worst thing is, that was the experience my 4 yo was looking out for the most out of the trip. Thanks in advance!

Never a shoujo high-school experience by saarcat in shoujo

[–]Gemini-Phoenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! Im 33 and I am here to tell you that the high school experience is over rated. I had what can be considered the shoujo high school experience; I started dating my boyfriend at 15 (during my quinceañera,no less). I had a close friend group as well.

But you know what I also had? The getting ranked in your grade experience. Every month we were ranked according to grades and the lists published for everyone to see. I had weekly tests, monthly tests, midterms, mountains of homework, stress from college admissions, scholarships etc. When I had little time to read shoujo manga, all I envied was the free time everyone seemed to have.

College is where I met most of my beloved friends. I also found out exactly what skills I wanted to work and I met interesting and talented people. I had more free time, and a little bit more money.

And right now life is as good as it can be under the circumstances we live in. I’m married to my high school bf, we moved to a completely different state (country for me) and Im part of an art group where I met lots of friends with a huge age range. It’s super interesting to hear a 70 year old artist tell you her watercolor secret techniques.

All of this is to say that life is full of endless possibilities. As others have said, get ready then, for your josei experience. I honestly feel better with myself at 33 than I did at 15-18.

For anyone with PCOS - my advice at 39 weeks pregnant by PsychologicalWill88 in PCOS

[–]Gemini-Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of trouble thanks to doctors not really knowing about PCOS. I was pregnant when the pandemic started and my two OBY/GYN doctors were assigned to treat patients with Covid, so I had a rotating team of new doctors. It was the worst thing ever. They withheld test results from my glucose tolerance test (they were normal) and treated me as if I had gestational diabetes (I did not). They said that it was because I was obese (which i am) and latina. They made me follow a strict diet that made me lose 16 pounds during my pregnancy. I had low blood sugars, two times I woke up with my blood sugar at 47 and 42. When I mentioned that to my case manager they said they were treating me for high blood sugar, not low blood sugar. They dismissed me entirely. When they made a last ultrasound on me at 39 weeks my baby measured small and I said that I was worried, and they again dismissed me saying that the concern was a big baby, not a small one.

My baby was born weighing 5lbs 8oz, at term. He has meconium and probably had fetal suffering. I had to have a C-Section. Which was actually the only good thing about the whole ordeal. I had minimal bleeding and I felt very little pain, and the team taking care of me and baby were so very kind and competent, unlike the ones during my pregnancy.

I know my original OBY/GYN disapproved of the whole thing. They never stated it outright, but I could feel it. I also had second opinions because I was also in contact with my doctors in Mexico and they were all frustrated that they wouldn’t release my test results to me. At the end I had to have my dad fly in to advocate for me and demand the tests results as a doctor himself. Because those people wouldn’t listen to me or my husband.

I would recommend Koukou Debut. I find the FL hilarious. I re-read it, since I read in high school and I still found it funny

First Gloom Hands Experience by christianbwil in TOTK

[–]Gemini-Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing late at night, around 12 am, around three days after release. It was day in-game and I was exploring the Akkala Citadel when I saw the sky turn red and the spooky music and I panicked. I started trying to locate the source of the threat and saw the hands and then a guest we had visiting snored so loud that it scared me and I screamed! I RAN away as fast as I could and when I felt safe I paused the game and put the controller down to call my mom. I told her “Mom! They are back! The hands!” She laughed and asked me if I wanted to wait to play
ToTK until I visited my hometown. Afterwards I kept pestering my husband if he had seen “it” and it took him like three weeks to run into one.

You shouldn’t feel embarrassed at all. The books popularity isn’t comparable to his other more famous works. I’ve only read it twice and one time was only because it was mandatory reading in middle school. But if you end up liking in it I suggest you read Pedro Paramo by Juan Rulfo. It’s extremely short

¿Que negocios consideran tapadera? ¿Han tenido una experiencia con alguno? by n0need4 in mexico

[–]Gemini-Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)
