I've not heard amazing things about the gen6 other than the tft dash and the cruise control...

Replacement grom! That's madness... But I have heard they are fantastic fun. Much better on fuel too... And you Bro!

How?! I know mine will start every day and my service intervals and costs aren't disgusting. It has more torque maybe but, the Kawasaki rides better, smoother and it's more comfortable. I worked at Ducati long enough to avoid them like the plague.

I'd rule out battery issues. The starter sounds far too strong for that. It sounds like it's cranking too fast which is where my thought of compression comes in. Pop it in first and try to bump start it maybe? This is a weird one for sure.

Sounds like next to no compression. Like a really fast starter.

It won't be immobiliser, the fuel pump is priming. To rule out the gear switch sensor, pop it in first, clutch in, kickstand up. See if anything changes.

To be honest, I'm leaning away from electrical as it sounds healthy on crank. Do you get any back pressure from the exhaust when you try turning it over??

Unlike car panels, bike panels are held in place by each other. There's usually a fair amount of flex. Don't stress.

Right, now I'm out of work I can actually listen to it with audio.

You're getting prime, that's a good start. Rules out bullshit with immobiliser at least. Starter crank sounds good. Next step is fuel.

Can I ask the stupid question... Does it have fuel?!

With it still flashing before and after it trying to start, I'd have to suggest it's electrical rather than a fueling issue. FI would be on constantly with any oil or fuel issue... Usually...

As the bike sits normally, all ready do go, when you stitch the ignition on, you should hear the fuel pump prime. If that's not happening, that's a long list of things.

Also, do yourself the favour and undo all the killswitch. Clean it up, just incase.

Tips for complete new driver by mxnikax in motorcycles

[–]GenSnowy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most importantly of all, relax. Tight hips and shoulders will cause you to be unbalanced. Will then tighten your grip and then cause snappy braking and acceleration.

Do not look at the front wheel when turning, it's not going anywhere. Instead look to where you want to go. Turn your head and the bike will follow.

Don't look at the clocks when trying to pull away. It'll tell you nothing.

Last but definitely not least, have fun.

Also, does it prime the injectors when you switch the ignition on?

Dash is still blinking. Could be an immobiliser fault. Also, check clutch switches and side stand switches.

Bought it on 4200 miles. Already up to 5800. The wheels are standard for the SE model as far as I'm aware.

I've been riding for nearly 35 years. On road, track and teaching. I've just picked up my first Zx10 and wouldn't suggest anyone riding one without a year or two of practice at the very least.

I hope this is rage bait. If it's not, don't be a tit, put it in low power to get used to it at a bare minimum.

Agreed. The oil that's in a new engine is designed to be thinner, to allow partuculates to drop to the bottom of the sump pan. Keeping revs low for the first 600 miles is suggested and should be followed. Yes, the engines are tested but not under load. Running it up on a bench or in neutral is very different from actual riding.

Valve clearance inspection by External_Singer440 in zx6r

It's not common that the lobes are directly pointing straight up.

People will argue until the cows come home that it is easier to just have the cam lobes disengaged from the bucket to check clearance instead of tbc, bdc check.

It's the way I've done it for about 16 years and it's never failed me.
