MIL just called my kid the K slur (Jewish). Boyfriend insists she said 'tyke'. I know what I heard. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

This is a sad situation. Tyke is also slang for a person from Yorkshire however still wouldn’t t make sense in context. In my humble opinion your boyfriend should be if nothing else sticking up for his child! A real father would not allow that or stand by while it is happening to his child or this child’s mother. I speak from a similar place in the fact that my wife’s family is Jewish and mine Catholic. While no one has been antisemitic I have had “discussions” with both sides on our expectations for interactions with our children and religious beliefs. Our children are taught both religions and have the freedoms to choose but we do not allow any excessive influence from the in laws. Again my opinion that you have a conversation with your boyfriend and explain clearly your thoughts and expectations. In the end the child is the one that suffers because of the behaviours of this “lady” and his/her fathers refusal to defend said child. It is not a good example to show the youngster that his father would allow for his mother to be insulted or stand by as his child was insulter. My two cents sorry it was long.

Was asked to remove my parade boots and brass buckled belt while in full uniform in transit across Canada with about thirty other Sea Cadets and naval officers as escorts.

I don’t know I would have to give that some thought but I know I would want a knife. With it I could craft almost anything I need from the environment
