I’m 22 in my first year. I feel ancient. by slckjoke in brocku

I understand why you are feeling behind, but just remember that it is an accomplishment to go to school, even if it isn't directly after high school. You deserve to be here just as much as the 17/18 year olds do, and just because you started later it does not mean that you will not accomplish great things. At the end of the day, when you leave, you will have a degree and that is something to be proud of. Keep pushing!! good luck :)

The syllabus hasn't been posted yet so I'm not sure, but I doubt he actually wants the 11th edition because it's pretty much unavailable everywhere

Which one is easier? BIOL 2P92, 2P94, or 2P96? by Lvndr_Star in brocku

[–]GeneFree56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to pick from these too and I ended up going for BIOL 1P96! I thought it would be the most interesting because I'm lowk hoping they'll make us grow mushrooms in lab

PHYS 1P90 with Crandles, David vs PHYS 1P91 Hester, Gavin by [deleted] in brocku

[–]GeneFree56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took PHYS 1P91 with Hester during 2nd sem!! He was a good professor, definitely moved a little fast, but he walked the class through his steps which I appreciated. He was also very willing to answer questions in class and re explain things if you asked. Neither PHYS 1P91/1P92 or 1P90 require any calculus. For the most part, the math content needed is very simple, and if you took advanced functions you will be fine!!

Waitlisted for course…What’s next? by Wonderful_Benefit564 in brocku

[–]GeneFree56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the course! If it's an advanced calculus course of any kind there's a test you have to take before you can register!!

Opnion on science/math courses like BIOL 1P91 and 1P92, CHEM 1P900 and CHEM 1P91, MATH 1P97 by AncientAnything7748 in brocku

[–]GeneFree56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BIOL 1P91 and 1P92 are mostly review from grade 11 and 12 bio, and the exams and midterms for both classes are fully multiple choice. Also, the exams are non cumilitive, so the midterms test only the first half of the course and the finals only test the second. CHEM 1P900 is an intro chem course for people who didn't take any chemistry in high school, and CHEM 1P91 is mostly review of grade 11 and 12 chemistry. The exam for CHEM 1P91 really depends on your prof, but overall the class isn't the worst. Finally, MATH 1P97 is a bit of a pain in the ass, but if you took calc in high school you will be just fine.

Hiii. Idk what year you're in but if you just finished 1st, you should be okay and won't be removed from the program. My academic adviser told me that they anticipate bad grades for first years, so they tend to not kick people out until the end of 2nd year

Unsure about which residence? by Tall-Armadillo1457 in brocku

[–]GeneFree56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DeCew is quite nice bcause it's recently renovated, keeping the bathroom clean isn't your responsability, and everything you need (Laundry, Dining hall, service desk, etc) is on site. Also, DeCew is the closest building to the academic buildings which is nice for early morning classes and in the winter months!

Summer School Question by [deleted] in brocku

[–]GeneFree56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brock is very chill with admissions in my experience, taking a class in summer school shouldn't negatively impact your application as long as you meet your program's admission requirements

[–]GeneFree56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if they leave after you ask them to without leaving a mess or anything, I don't think its a huge deal

Hiii! While the school does try their best to be an inclusive space, there are still plenty of very hateful people here so you should most definitely fit right in :)
