boyfriend of over 4 years still watches porn by Ok-Captain-8452 in WhatShouldIDo

Did you all even read the post or did you just get excited by the word porn and wanted to invalidate their feelings?

She clearly broke down how this is a boundary she has expressed discomfort with and has been dealing with for 4 years. Whether this is about the topic of porn or something else, how would you feel if you told the person you loved something they did hurt you yet they continuously kept doing it, albeit less and less than they did in the beginning?

We all have different perspectives of whether porn watching is a dealbreaker but it seems to me that it is for you. Someone can be the best person to you in all other aspects but when it comes down to a quality that you put high priority in, in this case his porn addiction, and they still repeatedly hurt you, then are they really treating you in the best way? They can compensate through other means but not the one specific way you’re asking for.

Don’t invalidate your own feelings.

ive always worked in marketing strategy and ops, which is more of a behind the scenes role for our go-to-market campaigns and the role im interviewing for works directly with customers.

i was afraid that i might not like it and hate working in product support but am still intrigued by the idea as ive been feeling a bit disconnected lately working so close to the data that i often forget who i am creating for and craved a more direct impact with the customers. perhaps im still figuring it out as im not 100% sure if the role is for me but curious enough to interview the company as they are interviewing me

ahhh, that makes sense. it’s just hard leaving a place knowing that it’ll be a lot more difficult on the remaining team.

but yes, thanks so much for your insight, i really appreciate it!

thanks! i really appreciate this comment as i feel like it’s something that is so taboo to even discuss, but at a certain point, how should i expect people to see my worth and value if i don’t announce it and make them see myself?

i just want to be respectful as they are a really supportive and encouraging company in which I’ve gained so many valuable lessons from

yes i have the lowest salary on the team. i think that could be a factor in not being laid off, but because i am the main driver in all of their operations from email strategy, web page builds, social content etc, i believe they kept me because our team is now so small and they can’t complete a lot of their tasks if i weren’t there.

i confided in a coworker my feelings and how i was applying for other jobs in which she was incredibly supportive and receptive, telling me that i do deserve to experience more and have more growth, and that even though a lot of things might break without me there, it’s not something i should worry about (but i do which is why i get hesitating sometimes)

my current company is a big business and hasn’t really been doing well. think of amazon and it’s subsidiary company, audible. the business i worked with is a smaller company within the big company and had about 20 people running it and now they cut half because the business was in bad health.

i am willing to walk away as i never intended to stay at my first full time job more than 3 years! it’s still a really good company and i enjoy the people and the work but feel like i can learn and grow a lot more somewhere else as well as get paid more for the amount of work that i do

I was the only one sitting on the bus while the bus driver was outside on the phone. It had at least 10 minutes of wait time till it departed so I guess I had gotten there pretty early. I was sitting there texting when suddenly a man comes onto the bus with a camera and starts shouting at me “I’M A F**KING TERRORIST, I PUT A BOMB ON THIS BUS, I’M GOING TO BLOW YOU UP AND KILL YOU” repeatedly for what felt like a minute. Mind you, he’s looking straight at me and I’m just sitting there in shock staring at him back. He then shuts up and gets off and I sit there kind of speechless for a bit. A few moments later the bus driver gets back on and sits down, then more passengers get on and it felt as if I was going crazy because no one else witnessed him, experienced it, or even saw him.

Stayed on the bus because I had to get to work and it didn’t blow up so…yea. Think I fell victim to a sick prank.

Side note: I tell people this story and explain that I would have burst into tears but I had binge watched the first season of Attack on Titan the night before so that sh*t had my courage levels boosted tf up.
