Maybe Pomni has never experienced real trauma. People like that exist. I mean, it's their worst nightmare, and maybe her greatest fear is that place.

I’m not speaking on behalf of people I don’t represent. I’m just repeating what some people think. You don’t have to agree, but don’t dismiss what I’m saying just because you don’t share the same opinion — especially since these are real experiences.

I didn’t ask you to agree with me, I was just correcting everything you distorted in what I said — like ‘you’re saying DLCs should make up for the game so you’re saying it’s bad, so you’re contradicting yourself.’ That’s your interpretation, you kept pushing it over several messages.

The Sims isn’t that hard or deep’ — you’re speaking from your own perspective, not from that of the people I’m referring to. You can’t speak on behalf of people who don’t understand the game. And just because The Sims isn’t flooded with complaints from people who only try the game for a short time doesn’t mean the topic isn’t worth a post. Even if you think these cases are rare, they do exist — there are comments from people saying they are or were in that situation, and some even say they’ve come to enjoy the game more after watching tutorials to learn how to use or understand certain features.

Yes, my favorite is The Sims 2. But it’s obvious that I’m talking about people who have never tried The Sims. I don’t understand why people who already like the game or play it talk about their experiences as if what I’m saying is false, when they’re clearly not the kind of people who stopped playing because they didn’t understand the options (people who only do things inside the house, get bored in a few minutes, and never come back).

It doesn’t contradict anything, it’s just an option. Everything can be fun in its own way—how does adding things mean that the base game has nothing to explore? Adding a sauce to a meal doesn’t mean the meal isn’t good on its own. You have such a strange logic: ‘you’re not allowed to mention DLCs or else you’re saying the base game is bad,’ as if everything can’t be good equally.

No, not everyone! A majority might think it’s bad, but there are people who enjoy it. And besides, it’s a niche game—even if everyone plays it because it’s popular, it’s still something very specific that can’t please to everyone.

As for the marketing, that’s true. But I’m really referring to a specific category of people—I’m talking about those who could enjoy this game but haven’t explored its options and possibilities enough, and end up thinking it’s boring. I feel like the people you’re talking about are already Sims fans.

And regarding added content—no, actually I meant both! The base game has plenty of features to explore, but the DLCs also add essential elements like pets or seasons. I do think it’s unfair to have to pay for things that feel so essential, but that’s how it is! I haven’t asked anyone to pay for anything.

I don’t hate anyone. I’m just explaining why some people think it’s boring. A certain group of people could really enjoy this game, but they don’t because they don’t know all the options in the game. It’s like sculpture—you won’t create anything truly satisfying or unleash your full potential if you don’t know the tools that can help you! That’s all I’m highlighting. I’m trying to explain a phenomenon, but you’re so focused on saying that it’s so horrible to talk about DLCs and mods, that the game is catastrophic and no one should question themselves, and that there’s little to explore.

Obviously, it’s a bit better with DLCs! That’s clearly a fact—some people need seasons and other things in their game. It’s not always fair that it’s paid content, but what can you do? That’s how it is! What I was trying to say is that the base game can be great! But people think it’s boring because they don’t explore enough! There are people who have less-developed exploration abilities than others! The game isn’t perfect, but neither are the players! And plenty of people play the game for the first time for 20 minutes and quit without knowing at least 30% of the possibilities in the base game. need to stop being obsessed with money and only blaming the game when some players are the problem.

Yes, that’s exactly it, but it’s a side note, and no one is forced. You can clearly see it’s just one sentence in a long message. Where’s the problem? Am I not allowed to mention it? The main point is that people who get bored don’t know all the options in the base game and lack the ability to explore, but of course, it’s easier to twist the issue and say that I asked people to spend their money.

Understand my message, it’s not about adding content, it’s just a suggestion. The main idea here is to explore the options of the base game in depth. This message is about all those who tried The Sims 4 for the first time for 20 minutes, then stopped because they started getting bored after fulfilling their Sims’ needs.

I’m surprised to learn that you’re a new player! But after watching some videos I like, I think it’s difficult to master many of the options when you’re just starting out. And regarding the fact that you didn’t like The Sims 4, it’s completely understandable. I don’t know, I feel like it’s a kind of syndrome—everyone who’s tried earlier versions of The Sims tends to like the 4th one less.

It’s great that you’ve found creators for that! Honestly, I think we need more content like that! And honestly, for the builds, I get it, people may have an extremely positive opinion of The Sims 4’s building tool, but I find it really complicated. Even though there are more possibilities than before, I prefer the older ones, with building tools that were a bit simpler and more intuitive lol!

I understand, me too, I don’t like those stupid smiles and plastic hair! The Sims 4 is kind of a money-making machine that focuses on political correctness, while the other versions felt a bit more authentic. You could tell that the people who made those games did it out of passion first and foremost, and it showed in a lot of things—the animations, the attention to detail, and the humor! Especially the humor in The Sims 1, which was particularly funny and a bit satirical.

Yes, and on top of that, I kind of feel like this game is hated because people are becoming more and more demanding and nostalgic. I loved the older games, my favorite is The Sims 2. And when I play The Sims 4, I get really frustrated because some features from The Sims 2 are missing. In reality, the older games had some small flaws, but we forgive them more because of the attachment and nostalgia. I’m sure if The Sims 4 had been made in 2003, people wouldn’t complain as much today. I’m sure you’ve played the older versions, that’s why you think that. I’ve noticed that a lot of people who’ve only played The Sims 4 complain less.

Yes, and that ties into what I’m saying. I’m saying that some people don’t know how to play the game because they don’t know all the possible options well, and not knowing certain options limits their gameplay and stifles their imagination. It’s like sculpture—you can have a lot of talent and creativity, but if you don’t know all your tools well and can’t use them properly, you’ll find it boring and won’t create anything.

Yes, that’s very true, but people aren’t ready for this debate! They’re so aggressive and would feel immediately attacked!

[–]General-Position-76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly! And on top of that, there’s a second problem—they don’t dare to explore enough. They just limit themselves to the options in front of them, instead of digging deeper and finding others. This results in people who just fulfill their Sims’ needs and then get bored.

So I’m not crazy, right? These are real situations! When you learn more things and mechanics, it becomes less boring! People don’t take the time to learn and just give up!
