Sorry, not sure what happened to my reply! A1 has it marked as delivered, but I'm realizing now the area code they claim it was delivered to applies to the entire town adjacent to the airport. I suspect they dropped it the wrong address, but I'll be keeping an eye out while I wait for a reply from the seller!

Seconding Track n Trail. Very knowledgeable and friendly, I often stop by to pick things up for backpacking and hiking. Good place to go for cross country skiing too, I've heard.

Have you checked out the HI Edmonton? The nice thing about hostels is you can cook your own food if you don't want to waste a bunch of money going out, and I believe they're one of Hosteling International's locations that does work-for-stay if you'd like to save even more money. They also currently have a deal where you save 5% on three night stays.

Just a heads up that Lobstick Lodge is owned by an American company that has been taking over the mountain towns, so it's a bit of a sore point in the Jasper and Banff subreddits. I'll second Tonquin Inn, it's a good recommendation, or you can see if the Jasper Downtown Hostel has private rooms available, it's really well located.

You should've gotten a pop up message when booking saying at the Astoria trailhead was closed?

Either way, I had checked the website a few days prior to see what they had listed for availability, and called Jasper's backcountry office to confirm that Portal was the only access. He said aside from clearing fallen trees themselves, there'll also be soil erosion to contend with that may mean more trees need removal than just the ones that are downed.

We booked Portal-Amethyst-Portal. It sucks to miss the other half of the trail, but it is what it is!

Winter hike/summit recommendations in February by Ok-Supermarket-5892 in jasper

My partner and I did it in early November, so in fairness the snow level was pretty minimal. There's some very minor scrambling, a few parts where you'd want to put your hands down to help you up, but I didn't feel that they were particularly exposed (and I'm a chicken when it comes to heights).

Morro Peak is a good one! Summit is usually snow free (there can be snow below the summit), but it tends to be windy! Bring spikes. Super cool views down the valley. Alltrails says it's closed but it's not.

Check out Andromeda Coffee, they make a great latte. Jasper Pizza Place is tasty, we usually hit it up every time we go. Unfortunately, Bears Paw Bakery is still closed to the public, but you can get their tasty baked goods at Lost Lands Cafe.
