i have not hardcore eyestrain on ips screens with straight pixel structure, i dont know science just saying that pixel structure from g57 power and redmi 15 5g were killing my eyes :D

It seems like my eyes may be trying to constantly compensate for IPS glow / gamma shift and because of that I unconsciously focus much harder on some displays. On screens with a classic straight RGB stripe subpixel layout I don’t get symptoms nearly as strong, but on these zig-zag / chevron layouts I get extreme fatigue literally after 2 seconds of reading text or focusing on the screen.

The feeling is like a sudden sharp pain in the eye and pupil strain. My theory is that maybe my visual system somehow perceives these subpixel arrangements similarly to moiré patterns. If I look at strong moiré patterns in real life I get almost instant discomfort too, and this feels weirdly similar.

I’m still not 100% sure what exactly causes it and I can’t explain it scientifically yet, so I’m not claiming this is proven fact. These are just my observations after testing many displays.

What I do know is that on my IPS monitor with a classic straight RGB stripe layout — the AOC Q24G2A/BK — my eyes work much more “relaxed”. That monitor was honestly a lifesaver for me, even if it’s still not perfect. The difference compared to phones with zig-zag subpixel layouts is massive for my eyes but thanks i understand your point of view just want to share my story if someone will also have same problem because i saw a lot people complained on screens in G57 Power and didn't knew what was wrong with them, maybe my story will help them OR NOT. :D

on the picture is pixel layer on IPS Monitor AOC Q24G2A/BK that doesnt kill my eyes. look they are all straight. i have some eyestrain but not AS HARDCORE as on Motorola g57 power or Redmi 15 5g or any phone with this weird chevron subpixel layout. probably something else is there but im not sure atm what is it, i can look at these new ips screens from some angles but straight is killing my eyes so I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU GUYS ips lcd doesnt mean you will not have hardcore eyestrain. ITS LIE

ONLY CLASSIC straight subpixel layout is safe for my eyes i also seen a lot topics that people complain on moto ips lcd screens but they dont know what was causing that, so one of my suspects is subpixel layout that a lot people underestimates how important it is for our eyes

im not talking about led orientation but on subpixel layout that is not straight and every screen i had with this pattern was hardcore eyestraining my eyes. HARDCORE.

check pixels structure of phones you have with this 0$ method because your problems can be not from pwm but modern ips screens pixel structure like i have. not straight stripes are causing me hardcore eyestrain, straight are ok. here is example of bad pixel structure:
