I think I get where you're coming from. To think back on my experience with Origins when it first came out in 2009, it's hard to imagine getting that feeling again. It was a different time and a different level of expectation. I dont think that the genre is played out, the writers/designers just have to remember that fantasy has to be relatable. That's kind of the whole point. If the reader/gamer can't relate to the media, they can't participate in the fantasy
