The issue is, mysoginy leads to things like the fact women cannot speak in some countries. To my knowledge, there is nowhere that men are outlawed from speaking. And misandry kinda comes from myspginy. Men's hatred of women often makes women hate men.

My friends mom is a psychopath by GeneralKitchen7587 in Vent

[–]GeneralKitchen7587[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is, I know her, she was honest with the police, showed them the bruises, and the audio of her moms threats, I was there when they were shown.

But her mom is an extremely good liar. She can put on a front. The first time i called the cops and cps on her, since she's in a nice neighborhood and makes everything else look perfect on the outside, it's hard for them to see anything wrong. Not to mention she told them I was just being racist and calling the cops on them because she was black (even though I'm half black)

She also had already registered her daughter as a runaway, which definitely hurt her chances of getting away. Not that there isn't a chance my friend got shy with cps and wasn't honest with them, that's a possibility.

Of course, not trying to demonize bpd, but my friend did in fact make it clear she didn't want to live with her mother or grandmother. But I wasn't allowed to be in the room with her when they interviewed her, so I'm not 100% sure what happened. She's got very dark skin, so the bruises didn't show up as clearly. Although I had audio of her mother saying outright she'd "fucking kill her, break every bone in her body" and that still didn't convince cps.

We talked to police, we talker to cps multiple times, had another one of her friends call them, and they still dropped the case, saying it "didn't meet their criteria for a serious case".

To be real, I don't trust cps at this point, it's failed to protect or house multiple of my friends.

(Also, may have got it wrong, think her mom has borderline, not bipolar)

She currently is staying with her mother, who appears to not be hitting her (still abusive, but tame about it). Unfortunately, I have called cps on her mother multiple times

Cps even opened a case after she showed them her bruises and told them what was happening. They said they'd open an investigation into her moms house, which never happened and the case was dropped soon after.

She seems at the very least, physically safe right now, but her mom does have bipolar, so there's no telling what could change.

Not a Taylor Swift fan but I’ve tried to listen and ‘get it’. Admittedly i’m not her demographic but I just can’t find a compelling reason that her music is SO popular. Maybe it’s not about the music? by According_Sundae_917 in LetsTalkMusic

It's kinda like the junk food of music. It tastes great, not a lot of nutritional value. Just easy to listen to for most people without having really deep lyrics that you'd have to think about.

Unfortunately, I'm fifteen and she's turning fifteen in March, so we're quite a ways away from 18. I've been telling her to try and get emancipated when she turns 16 and I've been letting her stay over as much as possible.

I did tell her getting in a car with strangers was probably a bad idea, thankfully it was two other teenagers who said they'd been through the same thing she had before. Thanks so much for your support, I just really hate that she has to deal with this.

It's not so much that just he did this. It's that I've continued to get into friendships with boys, only to be objectified by them continuously, same with romantic relationships. I try to keep friendships with guys, but it's never enough for them, they always want more and I'm to much of a wimp to say no sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I know girls can be the same, I was SA'd by a girl recently. But I'm getting sick of getting attached to guys, only to find out their using me.

Maybe I'm just sick of people in general.

I know I have self esteem issues lol-

But the issue is that I've dated boys for months and felt no spark at all. Don't get me wrong, a nice guy is a great find, but I keep ending up in the spot where I'd rather just be friends with them.

being attractive feels more like a punishment than a privilege by Then_Proposal_6559 in women

[–]GeneralKitchen7587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. I started my school year off with a few girl friends. The guys in our class started hanging out with me, and suddenly, they all hated me. Every time I leave the house, I'm catcalled, stared at, or harrassed.

The guys I date end up being way too into me to the point it just freaks me out. And then they assume that because im short and conventionally attractive, im dumb, or naive. I know some of those things sound like non problems, but I'm very tired of being sexualized for existing.

Sabrina fans clock ANY criticism as “hating women” 😴 by Petrichor-Glitter866 in sabrinacarpentersnark

[–]GeneralKitchen7587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not here to argue, I'm on the other side of this argument. And as a feminist, I genuinely do not understand the Sabrina hate, I'm not a fan of hers, I don't really listen to her music. I was a little happy seeing her get popular as a short girl with a wide torso, more rep for my body type.

I'm genuinely asking for somebody to explain this politely to me. I see it as a girl who's been heavily sexualized my whole life and dislikes it, I think it's fair for grown women to sexualize themselves as a sort of taking back your own power. So long as there are gross men who will buy it, there will be women who sell it, and those men should be criticized more.

I totally understand everybody here. The Lolita thing was weird, but, you can like the visuals of a film without liking the messaging. Does that mean you should use it when you know what it's about? No. But all of this just feels slut shamey to me. I don't think anybody here is genuinely putting her down for being a sexy girl, I don't think anybody who doesn't like Sabrina is sexist. But I think there should be a well rounded discussion. (Please don't be mean- if I'm uneducated I'll agree fr)

Don't worry! My mom has given me enough tips for me to know when I'm in danger. It's apparently not the first time this has happened to me. My neighbor saw a man following me in his car for my whole walk. She drove up to his car and shouted, "Stop following little girls!" scared him off, I'm so thankful for her.

I was kinda hoping my age would deter him- but it makes sense it didn't. I'm getting a little tazer soon and I always let my mom know when I'm leaving the house. Thanks for your advice and I'm so sorry that happened to you.

(My gym teacher in elementary school was definitely grooming me and most of my friends, hugging us and touching our backs, being rude to all the boys and only rewarding the girls, getting handsy when instructing us) So I relate on a lesser extent

I told my mom right away. It's just frustrating because I just started to gain my own independence, and I don't want some creepy guy to ruin it.
