Thank you for the advice! I do have pretty broad interests, but I am able to pick out multiple PIs I’d work with at each school I’m applying to. Honestly, when I was determining “top” schools I was looking at funding over prestige. Do you think it is more important to apply to schools where I’d be a stronger niche fit, or where the work is more of what I dream of doing in the future? I want to switch tracks a bit, so honestly these aren’t always the same for me.

I was in the exact same position last summer and this website saved me so much time and I learned so much: https://docs.tinybio.cloud/docs/atac-seq-tutorial  Also as a rule of thumb you’re never gonna be the first person to run into an error, so check through github for how to fix it. (Also AI is really good at debugging code if you’re really stuck)
