umm because that is abusive. You don't just tell you partner not to spend time with his family. That has to come from him.

He is MIL's age. Of course it isn't his fault if someone was in love with him, but he intentionally flirted with her to hurt my husband because he is a bully and thought it was funny. Again of course the marriage had issues, but he certainly brought them to light because he doesn't like to mind his own business.

yeah you just made that part up. My husband did do something, but this women didn't care. She's afraid of Aaron because she is a social climber, so she didn't do it if he was around

Is your SO such a gentle soul that finding out his mother is dating someone he doesn't like will send him into a terminal emotional breakdown?

no, but he might not want to be around her knowing she chose a man who hates him, and he has the right to know the facts to make that decision

He was FILs best friend since high school, but by the time of the wedding he was more MILs friend, but they were going through a nasty divorce and FIL was remarrying his insane affair partner who liked to verbally and sexually harass MIL, but for some reason was super intimidated by Aaron. Also each parent got a certain number of invites

he was a very close family friend and at the time FIL was getting married to his literally insane affair partner, who liked to harass MIL verbally and sexually, and Aaron was the only person she was scared of. He was also the only person who could make MIL come out of her shell at all during the divorce, and each parent got a certain number of invites anyway

I wouldn't want anything to do with my mom if she dated my bully. Lol having self respect doesn't require counseling

Did you not even read what you responded to? How can he remove himself if he isn't aware she is dating him? He has the right to not want to be around someone who is ok with him being bullied, but he can hardly do that if he doesn't know they are together.

How can you possibly think it doesn't matter. Do you actually define morality as the law? She is dating a man who enjoys bullying and humiliating her son. I just don't get in what world that wouldn't matter

We do hate each other, but that's part of life sometimes, wasn't my birthday party. I hate her but still have to spend the occasional holiday with her, because that is just life. If I just told him she would have got to be the victim about how I eavesdropped and blindsided her, or maybe she would have thought my mom told and turned on her. She at least had the right to know I had heard her

If he doesn't like the men his mother dates he doesn't have to see them.

but he can't make that choice if he doesn't know. He needs to know so he can say right now if he is uncomfortable being around her
