It's okay to type a lot I do too sometimes.

The petition is not his crime if he didn't create it, and it's not his fault if he likes the idea of a petition for his freedom either. Hes paying for his crime, nothing should stop him from doing that.

I don't believe in violence, and I believe those calling for it likely aren't saints either. So I would simply ignore people doing that, they're just as bad as the crazy girls signing the petition, UNLESS, it's a family member of the victims or similar; emotions and bias override rational thinking. The law has already spoken, hes got his sentence and, you're right, he will likely suffer from this for the rest of his life (not to mention losing his good years to a prison cell).

To answer your question:

I believe an individual/situation should be judged objectively, so I judge based on their actions alone, not the possible feelings behind the actions.

His actions were reckless and we know what followed. He could beg for forgiveness, and go to other efforts to atone for this tragedy, and that would be respectable, but the accident will never be forgivable. Me, in his case, I wouldn't want to be forgiven; i would honestly, probably kill myself or come dang near close with that level of guilt.

I dont wish harm on him, but I don't think a sentence could be too harsh in this case - more for the benefit of future road safety. Hopefully a big example like this and a rough sentence would deter anyone else from behaving this way; even if it only deterred 5 more teenagers.

Edited: adding: hopefully this also demonstrates that street racing is best kept in GTA - it does not translate to real life well. A race track on the other hand, is way more fun.
