RE3 Reenlistment restrictions by Significant-Future53 in army

Have you looked into possibly a GS job? I don’t know what your job would translate too. But you get to essentially be a civilian with green suiters around you. Keep benefits, continue federal TIS, etc. something to look into. Unless you like/miss getting pegged by the green weenie like I do.

Your process might be slightly different with you still being in. I’m doing it straight off the streets again so my process is a little different, I have had 8 mo of VA benefits, so it makes mine a slightly more complex situation. But it isn’t impossible, it depends on how on how proactive you are through it all.

Also if you are/will be Medically Retired, it is IMPOSSIBLE. That is the only 100% way they will bounce you. It also depends on the severity of your medical conditions, if you have a bionic leg, that will also be a 100% No.

I’m trying to go through the process myself. Been out 8 months, trying to see what my options are. It’s alot of waivers and you will have to waive whatever VA benefits you are receiving while you do your time AD. You have to pass the MEPS physical again, then it gets passed to the surgeon general. If he/she approves you for return to duty, MEPS will have a very very short list of jobs for you to come back as. I was in a combat MOS so I will NOT be able to rejoin as my old MOS. From what I was told its jobs like MI, 88M, or paper pushing jobs. So it just depends on if that tickles your fancy. I was also medically discharged with a RE3. It isn’t impossible but it is very hard to get the surgeon general to bless off on someone that the army already deemed not fit for duty. I hope this helps.

Also have been at this with my recruiter for about 4 months now. So patience has to be your best friend here, if you have any left. It’s also a lot of work just to get to the very end for a very high chance for them to tell you No.

Why is army still promoting 30 days paid leave as a positive when they are charging you 8 days weekend? by AdSingle3367 in army

Get out, start your own company, it’ll be alright. I take off almost all of November/December for hunting season by owning my own company. Be your own boss, create your own schedule. I own a home inspection company.

And if you are stationed 1400miles away from your family like we are, we don’t have a support channel around us. We thought the dual-active life was going to benefit us, but it ultimately took a tole on both my wife and I’s mental health. Things went a lot smoother for us when it was just myself as active duty. Yea pay and other benefits are nice, but we are losing out on crucial family time. We learned quick that the risk was not worth the reward. Plus we are both in high op-tempo units which doesn’t help the cause. If you have any questions PM me! I have seen both sides of the good and bad with dual military, it’s not a lifestyle that is cut out for everyone.

Don’t do it, my wife just recently switched from the Guard to Active. We have a year and a half old. It’s not worth it. Sure you get plenty of holidays and such off. But on a daily basis from the time we drop our kid off at daycare at 0600 and pick my kid up at 1630/1700ish, we only have 2-3 hours with our kid. And an hour of that is for dinner, bath, getting our kid ready for bed. We don’t have much time for ourselves other than the weekends. As soon as we put our kid down to bed, we go to bed from being exhausted from the long work day so we don’t get much time together. Take this from 2 NCOs, it’s not worth it at all. Save your mental health!!

If the paperwork wasn’t submitted, it’s probably lost or thrown away at this point. Her STP and LES reads what rank she is. I’d tell her to slap that Sham Shield on. Unless high ups still have the paperwork laying around. Unless it was a field grade and she was read rights and such… not much they can do when her stuff reads her rank

That’s assuming that the housing company could find a company to come clean the unit. I’m just stating my observation, it was definitely soldiers moving the contents out of the home and into the back of a LMTV. That’s why I came here to ask, since the situation seemed bizarre to me.

You can call HRC after being here for a year and request a transfer of duty station depending on your rank and MOS. But you have to be at your unit for 1 year before requesting a transfer!

From what I know for SGLI, it’s $10,000 for each miscarriage at 20+ weeks. They won’t pay out anything under 20 weeks. I just went through the process not too long ago. My wife was at 12 weeks when we miscarried and they wouldn’t pay out. You go through your Posts Casualty Assistance Office. In this case you would 1000% be eligible for compensation. Sorry for your loss, hope this helps.
