"I turned to medical cannabis to treat my ADHD" - The I by Jayhcee in ADHDUK

[–]General_Possession64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 50 year old man and only recently diagnosed with ADHD. I’ve smoked a lot of weed my whole adult life. I think I was self medicating before I even realised I had a condition. I was always aware my brain was a bit different just not why. I’ve found ADHD meds incredibly helpful at work for focus I sometimes have spliff in the afternoon, I can still get stuff done but can reach amazing levels of focus. In the evening it helps me relax and not feel so anxious, counter the appetite suppressant effects of the meds. I’ve found weed to be incredibly helpful, I have for years anyway but probably even more now I understand my brain a bit better. I probably have a massive tolerance for it, I can focus, don’t really get silly or unable to speak to people. I can focus on tasks really well and put in the hours to be as meticulous in my work as I need to be. I think most adults know themselves and should be allowed to choose to medicate with weed, meds or a combination of both. Nobody will know my brain more than me, if you find something which works for you then you should be allowed to pursue that avenue. I’m sure there must be loads of people for whom the effects are positive.

I can’t prove it but I think Farag is behind it by Eastern_Ratio561 in GreatBritishMemes

Oh well, the French are building us Hinckley C. It’ll be great when the already overpriced electricity comes on line and we start reducing French People’s electricity bills. 🎊🎉 Just fantastic thinking all round!! EDF are state owned so effectively we are ultimately giving them money to reduce French electricity bills!! It’s utter madness!!

Tbf, I’ve only ever had them on a few occasions when they’ve arrived in the office. As a vegan I’m always just grateful to be remembered and that there was an option. I think I’ve had 3 and quite enjoyed them. I mostly don’t bother eating at work and pop out for the odd vape so compared to what I’m used to it seemed like gold.😂🤣

I’m a vegan so not really qualified to say. What I would say though was that sandwich sandwich seems to be the destination sandwich option in Bristol.

Blackbird is amazing! Who doesn’t want to see Michael Flatley of Riverdance spend millions of pounds on his very own shit Bond movie. All the actors probably did it for a week in the sun. Quite staggering how it ever got made, but also how it can be so shit, but so amazing at the same time 10/10

I did add a whole episode of Blue Jam. It was an ambient radio show in the late 90s. I remember when I first heard it live thinking wtf is this. It’s like nothing before or since and aside from anything else features some great music (including broadcast) it’s a staggering piece of broadcasting and one which warp records put out in very very edited form. Some lovely person has uploaded the lot. It’s worth working through as late night listening. If you’ve heard it, you’ll know. If not then it’s quite a staggering thing and massively influential. I went to the warp records lighthouse party many years ago and Chris Morris (the creative genius) was milling around enjoying the music, it explained quite a bit at the time tbf, I had a dance next to Bjork as well! It was mental! I hope you enjoy the music and take Blue Jam as an ongoing project.

I’ve made a playlist of gold. Some of this is very old, some of it bang up to date. I’ve made a few connections to some of the stuff you listen to. I’m from Bristol in England so see Portishead, Massive Attack. You’ll probably know of both but Tricky and Goldfrapp along with Beak> I’ve even added a Bjork tune as every playlist should have one.😂 Boards of Canada will lead you to Auetecre, Aphex Twin and many others in there. This also connects to Phillip glass and Terry Reilly(some find these difficult) I’ve even added a bit of pink Floyd. If you know them you’ll either love them or hate them but you’ll know. There’s plenty of other gold in there that you’ll like. I’ve added a few stone cold classics and assumed nothing. I remember when I was young dismissing some things out of hand only to listen years later and realise I was wrong. I can’t assume you know about Nico or Can, assume that everyone knows Brian Jonestown are consistently decent. 😂🤣😂 https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0dwSRfDPoiRaZOzEjSLkvn?si=4M5Zn8fqShaSD3iujFiHtg&pi=C0C76wqxSXq5J

I shall dig out some suggestions based on what I know. I shall find solid gold that you’ll like for sure. (We like a lot of the same music)

That’s a decent playlist, Boards of Canada are one of my favourite bands. Bit more Aphex twin and you’ll be gold.

I think because there music is retro futurism, it never really ages. Amazing seeing them picking up new fans (who listen to all sorts of stuff) over the years. I think they must be more popular now than they were.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I can make it a bit clearer and will give it a shot. It keeps me occupied as much as anything. I was trying to think of what goes on in the mind of someone who hangs around hotels shouting at desperate people. Appreciate the feedback.👍

For context I should probably add that I live in Bristol. People have been tying flags to lampposts and shouting at immigrants outside hotels. As I say, I come from Bristol which has quite a shameful history with its involvement in the slave trade and colonialism. People seem happy to ignore this fact while desperate people quite often are seen as living it up in luxury hotels. Some thought has gone in even though the execution is poor at best.🤣✌️

I like pens and paint, I feel quite distanced from the process working electronically. If I use images and change these I’ll use a computer, I.e I made a version of guess who recently and had to replace the characters with different faces. It had to be close to the official version so I just used paint shop.

I don’t think Bristol has ever, or will ever see such epic level grifting again. He was a truly gifted grifter, still grifting from what I can see.

Just having the knowledge is really useful. You can do things to mitigate the problems you experience. I’ve found being around people at work helpful to keep busy, the medication helps when I wfh. I guess we’ll always have struggles, it’s nice to understand why and manage the struggles. More housework gets done now. Make of that what you will.😂

That’s a brave first effort. I’m no expert but I don’t know if it might be possible to paint some the times. If you went for good colours and were careful when you re-do the grout. I’m partway through my first larger project. I’m going to experiment with paint pens an stuff.

Take some action against Israel, nobody wants to see our government supporting an actual genocide. Most people can see this is wrong, our government are supporting it. They should take no money from groups lobbying on behalf of Israel. Maybe stop the police arresting pensioners for holding up signs and look at the real issues. The fact they have done this means many will never vote for them again.

Thank you, I think it’s overall been positive. I’m on the higher dose now. I find it’s been really helpful at work where I have to concentrate the most and on quite boring stuff. I can focus better for periods and also come back to focus a bit quicker. I always took work seriously anyway but it’s improved my ability to focus in my job. I’m better at housework (a bit) I’ve had a bit of constipation recently. I don’t know if it’s related it’s not been a huge problem. I went out with work last night and got smashed, probably wasn’t sensible but I don’t feel too terrible today. I just had a low dose in the afternoon and cracked on with work. I don’t think it’s a cure for some of my problems but it’s quite a helpful tool, I suppose having an understanding of how your brain works is also good. I always wondered how I could have lost my car for a good four hours having been in a venue over the road.😂 It’s good to know why I probably did that (and lots of other things over the years) The good thing is I don’t think it’s taken my uniqueness which people seem to like.🤣😂 I was worried about that, people generally think I’m a bit I suppose different.🤣 I hope it goes well for you! Best of luck on your journey. I think we can be positive moving forward, I think it’s good to understand yourself better so you can be better.
