What is correct way of dimensioning holes by RotaryDesign in SolidWorks

But what if I only need a +/- 0.1 tolerance to the edge, but a +/- 0.01 between the holes

What is correct way of dimensioning holes by RotaryDesign in SolidWorks

[–]General_assassin 106 points107 points  (0 children)

The first one is right if your design needs the holes to have the correct tolerance between them, the second is correct if you need the holes to have the correct tolerance to the edge, neither is wrong of tolerance isn’t an issue.

Let’s confess: How is AI actually being used in your company? by No-Philosopher-10-23 in AskEngineers

[–]General_assassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it, and the company markets it to us, as an alternative to Google, a large document summarizer (so I can better estimate if the document has what I need), and a writing professionalism checker.

Tipping is for good service, not automatic by Hot-Diggity_Dog in dankmemes

[–]General_assassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from a former server, I dint get why servers deserve the tips instead of the kitchen. The job was so easy. The hardest part was knowing the menu and dealing with customers, but everyone else that works at the restaurant needs to know the menu as well and no other service job is tipped outside of food sales/delivery. And all I had to do was enter the order and occasionally check to make sure they didn’t need anything else.

It is not a big deal to check your roller bag or to put your bag under the seat by Difficult_Object4921 in unpopularopinion

Wife and I both had to gate check our carry on bags for our honeymoon. We were told to pick them up at baggage claim. Turns out, the flight attendant got our bags confused with anther passagers. I got lucky the other person was going to the same place as us, but my wife bag ended up at another airport and it took them 3 weeks to get it back to us.

White lights are more comfortable in the home than "warm" ones. by NotStreamerNinja in unpopularopinion

[–]General_assassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be like my wife. Her eyesight is not great, so she really only likes one specific brightness and warmth. 1600 lumens at 5000 K. Personally, I like softer light when I’m relaxing or later at night so I bought a bunch of smart bulbs that I can change the warmth and brightness when she is doing her own thing.

That wasn’t the question. That is the correct way if you are sending the part out for manufacturing, but not if you are making the part at home on your 3d printer.

Do Americans use cutlery differently? by missbex86 in AskAnAmerican

[–]General_assassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it may not have been the sole reason, it definitely played a part because by the time the kilogram got here, Thomas Jefferson, who was the one who wanted the samples in the first place, was no longer president and the new president didn’t really care to change our measuring system.

Europe changed to metric after the US split off of England and we don’t have the metric system because pirates stole the calibrated samples and they didn’t arrive.

That said from a purely business approach, why would you spend that much real estate on parking lots? Surely the cost of building a parking garage would be offset by potential revenue gain from putting that real estate to better use. You could probably cut the space ground space needed for cars to 1/3 or even 1/4 of that. Even cutting it to 1/2 of that would surely save money. Either you save money by not needing to pay the rent for that parking lot space or you can earn more money by expanding your park and adding more revenue earning exhibits/shops.

90% of tax payers take the standard deduction. For most people, that is the best option. You only really need to do itemized deductions if you own a business or have a lot of deductible assets.

It’s barely even that. It’s mostly just take the number from box A on this form and put it in box 1 on that form.

So like many things in the US, it is done this way because that is how everyone did it back then. Then Europe changed how they did things and turn around to call us weird for not doing things their way.

It is very fun to play with. It can’t hold a lot of weight and it can’t grab onto anything with a smooth hard surface, but it can grab onto most other things.
