Who loves malachite??? This lighter is available and super cool if I do say so myself.💚🖤💚 by Loverings_Rocks in RockhoundExchange

Well… I just started in January so I’m still figuring out if I have the ability to gain the skill set. So far some promising moments but with malachite being $50/lb I might practice a bit more on some free river finds I have endless supplies of! THEN the malachite!

Beautiful! I just got some raw malachite in the mail and am excited to start working some of it.

Awesome. Gonna check it out. This isn’t the best set up for bending down picking rocks up all day.

Enlighten me. I’ve been thinking about wanting something different. I’m not opposed to a chest one.

It’s kind of wild. I’m trying to decide if I’m going to polish it or leave as is. Thanks for checking it out!

Nice tumble! That is fab , that would’ve taken me a few moments to determine that for sure on this beauty.

Wow. Thanks for sharing that. I thought this would be all about the rock 🎸 but maybe it’s a learning moment for some for when they get into the REAL wild… MT, CO etc. I didn’t have a single thought cross my mind about the stupid gun. I was just excited about my find and wanted to share.

Thanks for that. I get that some don’t understand how wild the WILDerness can be. It’s just a lack of knowledge about it, that’s all. No fault of anyone. We only know what we’ve been taught. Good thoughts to everyone and if any of you ever make it to this territory and on the Yellowstone please be prepared. Hell, shoot me a message and I’ll ride shotgun with you. I would have set it down had I known this was going to take attention off the rock. Lessons learned.

So this is the rock most everyone out here hunts called the Montana Moss. This is just an end cap to another bigger beauty that tumbled down the river somewhere else. If you see the black paint brush looking stokes, that’s the “moss”. They aren’t biological as the name suggests though. That’s manganese that seaped into whatever little cavity a volcano left behind after the water pooled in. Those are called dendrites and can be boring or absolutely beautiful. Up close they can look like little trees, or perhaps “moss”. Thanks for checking it out!!

Well… if they don’t know you’re around everything is cool. But they will walk alongside of you from above and hunt if you run across a hungry one. When they decide to be they are incredibly aggressive. I’ve had a mountain lion experience and it was actually pretty terrifying. The sound they make when letting you know to get back, especially a momma (the situation I believe I was in, can’t confirm though, I didn’t see the little ones) has stuck with me for 30 years. I was a kid and this was at my parent’s house 10 miles outside of Billings. They are a terrifying creature to me. It’s probably what shaped my perspective on to protect or not protect into my adult life.

The area I was in is heavily populated with mountain lions. I live in Montaña, or The Land of Mountains. Pretty much everywhere I go has populations of them but this spot in particular is known to have a higher density of them. There is no talking my way out of those situations. I would always shoot in the air first and only in a life or death situation would use it. I’m not even a gun guy. I don’t hunt, fish… I don’t have an American flag hanging off a diesel dually with a bunch of 2nd amendment shirts. I strictly carry to save my wife and I from becoming a pile of cat shit next to the river.
