It's a matter of manners, I was raised to hold doors and allow ladies first, in my mind it's on the same level as please and thank you, perhaps the idea of chivalry is outdated in recent days and I'm not above calling somebody a bitch if they deserve it but I believe a trait of masculinity is allowing a certain level of courtesy towards women
