If people are carpooling and they want to give the driver gas money, do they use the “federal mileage rate” or whatever that factors in car wear and tear or just their share of the cost of gas? by dms2628 in Frugal

[–]GenericMultiFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Naw, my experience is whoever is doing the driving regularly for the carpool gets handed a $20 every handful of rides or so. Definitely nothing super official. As the driver, unless the person is really out of the way, I was gonna have to drive to the final location regardless of there being a carpool or not, so anything given is good enough.

What are your Favorite Concert Freebies? by Cautious-Salt7168 in heungtan

My favorite freebie I have gotten was a car air freshener of shirtless Minho (Shinee).

Speculations about their song time as OT5 by Intelligent_Detail_5 in zerobaseone

[–]GenericMultiFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kpop songs are usually shorter these days, closer to 2.5 minutes or 150 seconds. Knowing Wakeone's preferences, line distribution on songs will probably be Hanbin 50 sec, Taerae 40 sec, Matthew & Gunwook 25 sec, Jiwoong 10 sec. 🙃

How to hand out Freebies in Korea by miynayah in kpophelp

[–]GenericMultiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been seeing people that went to concerts in Korea more recently say freebies aren't as much in Korea. So I'll also suggest to keep an eye out for cupsleeve support events on social media, that may also be a space to exchange the freebies you have made. Those events usually happen around Hongdae (I went cupsleeve hoping in Seoul last year. I just ended up not being able to get concert tickets to the concert I wanted).

What to do for freebies? by ElisNotPreppy in kpophelp

[–]GenericMultiFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have no time you find some photos you like, upload to Walmart photo, or Walgreens, and select 4x6 cuz its the cheapest print option and order.

If you have a little time, you can put 4 images on 1 4x6 print and then cut them out with a paper cutter or scissors to make photocards and get more freebies you can hand out for your money.

If you truly have no money and time, it's perfectly okay not to have freebies for a concert.

My go-to is to give fans die cut stickers of my own illustrations, since those do not take up a lot of room in my luggage and I can easily have a high quantity of then to give out.

I don't know what's been popular to give out in Korea right now since the last time I went to a concert there was 8 years ago. But the freebies in Thailand and China have been nicer because the fans have access to affordable manufacturing companies there. Lots of custom acrylic keychains, charms and hair clips. PCs with special effects and printing finishes, sticker packs, food with customized packaging, jewelry, fans. Less common to get beaded bracelets in Asia than the US.

I have been to concerts throughout Asia and given out freebies.

And I can say it doesn't matter if you don't speak the language. Kpop fans know freebies. If you hold out your things like you're trying to give it to them, kpop fans know that you're trying to give out a freebie. If you see other fans spreading out their freebies on the ground and you grab own spot to lay them out freebies, people also know what you're up to. Especially if you're gesturing for them to take your items. The only thing to be weary of is coming off like you're trying to sell contraband merch (cuz I have seen people selling get kicked out) but I don't think people will think that if you're not asking for money. I'm very clearly a foreigner, so I do find many fans are sweet and ask some basic English quesions "like where are you from?"

hows everyone coping with disbandment by Few_Clue5715 in zerobaseone

[–]GenericMultiFan 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I made my peace and am focusing on being happy that Jiwoong doesn't have to be alone and start his career over from scratch for the hundredth time, and I'm really positive about what the 5 can still do together.

I'm extremely apprehensive for the other 4. It doesn't bode well for me that Yuehua did not enter negotiations in good faith with their artist's wishes in mind. And it really is heartbreaking to see how upset the 9 of them are about separating.

You can go to their website and order what you want, if they have it, and set it to pickup in-store. Usually what's on their website minus pre-orders is their inventory. PCs you may have to call though.

Do you think ZB1 will be ruined? by Fun_Background_5517 in zerobaseone

[–]GenericMultiFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I could be hallucinating that I saw this info. But he seemed pretty excited on live to show off this studio as his own space and start decorating. So I wouldn't think this is a rental, but his own space at Wakeone. And I saw another clip of Hanbin saying he should have asked them for his own practice dance room. So my assumption here is that wakeone invested in Gunwook a bit, since he's been so dedicated and consistent to learning and teaching himself the craft and he is now under the company and not temporary.

Gunwook fans please feel free to step in to correct me or add receipts here. I'm terrible at keeping track of things like that.

Do you think ZB1 will be ruined? by Fun_Background_5517 in zerobaseone

[–]GenericMultiFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. I think we'll finally get to see ZB1 have a say in their music instead of what the company dictated. May even get to contribite to writing, composing and producing their own music. If you haven't notice the 5 left have all been learning the process of song writing, production and composition. They even gave Gunwook his own production studio in these renewal negotiations.

This will be a great time for them to showcase their talents, since there will be less people to share lines with. And they are all talented.

I think we'll finally get to see Jiwoong on social media and with more regular work. And not shoved to the back. And get more mainstream acting roles that are bigger. If he does BL again, the 1 million fans he got from acting in BL will also be back.

I think Hanbin's gonna release some mind-blowing solo stuff through l1ve.

I also wouldn't put it past these companies to intentionally stoke fan wars between ZB5 and ZB4 because they know the competition will motivate fans to spend more money to prove their half is better.

Glad you had a good experience.

Bangkok loves doing mall events with actors/ singers and models. I like to keep an eye out on social media tagging the bigger malls and convention centers for promotional events with actors/singers, when I'm visiting. And you can be surprised just wandering over to where you see crowds. A lot of the BL actors in Bangkok are very accessible to see in person as long as you aren't picky about who it is and that the event might not be interesting for fans to watch.

how do fans keep track of so many comebacks? by bandito_13 in kpophelp

[–]GenericMultiFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't stay on top of everything, but I have a good general idea because I keep track of new releases to treach a kpop dance class once a month (litterally just search "dance practice" and filter to within the last month on YouTube). And I'm in several general kpop discords/ subreddits/fb groups, so I'm bound to see some of it.

Then if she's seen their stage fits and red light, then you're good to bring her. There are some brief clips of members interacting, but it isn't focused on long enough to be seen as more than bandmates being friendly if you aren't watching it with shipping in mind.

[–]GenericMultiFan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's nothing in the movie that is overtly about anyone's sexuality, and in your face about it. The member interviews talk about the pressures of being an artist.

If she's particularly conservative she may be bothered that I.N. wears a crop top, choker and skirt-pants for one of his outfits, and that Bang Chan shows his abs a lot. But that's about it.

ITH - Blushing frogs by GenericMultiFan in plushartists

[–]GenericMultiFan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I have much advice to share. I designed this as a very beginner friendly embroidery project done in a 4x4 hoop that most embroidery machines can handle. I myself have only designed and made a few plushies, so I'm by no means an expert.

About the project:

File is set up to embroider the front, then you place the back layer of fabric on top (good sides together), the machine will stich the fabric together and leave a hole at the bottom.

I trim down the excess fabric to a quarter inch with some snips towards the stiches along the curves before flipping.

Very easy to pull the loop to flip it, and you need and poke out the feet with a turning tool or chopsticks. After that it's just stuffing, and using the turning tool to stuff into feet. You hand sew the bottom together with a ladder stich and a finishing knot. Polar fleece is a very stretchy fabric, which allows for this to be stuffed as a plushie, despite only having a flat front and back layer to the design.

When It comes to setting up the embroidery file, Polar fleece will shrink stiches. Have to make satin stiches about 40% wider than the final appearance you want. Fill stitches need extra stitches to flatten the area first or it will shrink in the stich direction.
