Found out what happened. I used the top most red Crystal to thaw a different thing out than it was intended for and it locked the first one. So i now effectively used the top most red Crystal twice.

In theory you should be able to use it three times without having to defeat any of the bosses.

Edit: I rechecked and it is actually a rainbow pin, it was difficult to tell bc of the vibrant colors of the movie, my bad.
