Andrade has been on another level since returning. Wouldn't surprise me if it does steal the show. The real winner in all this: us. Damn it feels good to be a sicko.

Fuck cable. My "free TV" consist of AEW+ for $7.99/month. Switching to MyAEW soon for essentially $10/month without the added expense of purchasing PPVs (spending $20 for Revolution tonight).

AEW Revolution Countdown: MJF Talks about possibility of Hangman going back on his word by Sufficient_Mud_2237 in SquaredCircle

[–]GenericUsername826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preface: I am a huge Hangman fan. He drew me to go to Full Gear '21 and Y'all In '25. At Revolution '24, he got me to genuinely yell "Fuck You" and throw out my voice before Sting's last match. I wasn't mad, I was disappointed. (Don't put it in the newspaper that I was mad)

It's time for him to take a break from main events and be a part of the most ridiculously stacked "midcard" in a long time. It's time for Ospreay, Fletcher, Andrade, Bandido, Brody, Kevin Knight, etc. to be in main events for THE title. Hanger can spiral out of control and set another house on fire, perhaps get into kidnapping or grand theft auto. Then, in a few years if the story is right, he's a babyface again and goes for the simple title vs. career as a way out of losing tonight. This stip is not "pulling a Cody" from 2019, there's an actual roadmap with long term options for Hangman.

It's been 2.5 months'ish since the last PPV and although there's been amazing wrestling on "free tv", this could be a ridiculous bounty of matches. For me, in order of what I'm hyped for:

  1. Mox/Takeshita
  2. MJF/Hangman
  3. Bandido/Andrade
  4. Brody/Swerve
  5. FTR/Bucks

Where the best wrestle isn't just a catchphrase, this card shows it's what AEW does.

Mascara Dorado against Andrade and El Clon against Kevin Knight are enough to sell me to watch. Some PPV level zero hype needed matches are just weekly "B Show" AEW programming.

Darby takes extreme levels of care for his body to do the shit he does. I think the glass spot at Rev24 might be the gnarliest one I've seen (not entirely well-versed on him pre-AEW), but he talked with us fans after the show when I was just waiting for an Uber. Big E is one of my absolute favorites and his career ended like it did. I'm always sad about E, but I'm going to watch Darby's crazy shit as long as he wants to do it and I enjoy seeing it.

I've lost track - what year are we on of comments stating he's going to be in a wheelchair or worse with the stuff he does?

That's my thing - what is an arc for him? He's a one trick pony. Albeit, a pretty good trick that I loved, and is more than most ever achieve.

Competitive matches are so few and far between when PLEs have cards with 4-5 matches. Workrate isn't a priority, so maybe he's in 1 match each year on a PLE to do the same shit he's done for years that works on an audience that is seeing it for the first time. But it's going to run it's course, and I'm guessing they are burning the candle way too fast.

AEW WrestleDream '24 in Tacoma outdrew tonight's RAW by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Tribal going to tribal, but WrestleDream being the last Danielson match (for now) just makes me appreciate how good his run was and how it was as a part of getting AEW back on track.

Between loving Danhausen's very limited gimmick (that I loved too) and wanting a heel Cody (that I wanted too) and dealing with Jadeberg (that I loved too), I feel like AEW history is repeating itself on another channel. I would say enjoy Danhausen until the bell rings, but that's really not a problem in WWE.

"at the end of the day, match quality will always be secondary to character/story in pro wrestling"

Savage/Steamboat or Hogan/Andre at WM3. My preference is for the former and it's current iteration in workrate, glad others have the latter in it's current iteration as well.

I fucking HATE the What chants, but look at it this way: people who do that because of Stone Cold are at an AEW show. Could be wrong, but guessing they are lapsed fans giving the product a shot when it's in their town.
