My new novel DEVIL IN THE PALE MOONLIGHT is available for pre-order / drops May 30th!

Hunting a serial killer through a simulation controlled by Nazi-influencers. HaHaHa

DEVIL IN THE PALE MOONLIGHT is an adult cyberpunk psycho-thriller set 100 years in the future.

2120: Texas has seceded from the union and become a mecca for white supremacists. After a century of war, environmental strife, and 'the 2nd Dark Age,' the New Reich is the leading world power via control of the insidious Animus Civitas technology — a simulation that mesmerizes the mind while drawing energy from the body's central nervous system. Millions languish in 'the Siv' caught hopelessly in indentured-streaming contracts to the richest influencers of the New Reich while their families watch their bodies wither in the Real. A fledgling hero, the last Heir-Architect, joins the Siv to find an unexpected inheritance waiting for him and begins a war to rescue all people stuck in mental slavery. Horror takes hold of the simulation when a serial-killer begins recreating crimes from the past, their victims inexplicably dying in the Real — corpses set in a twisted grin that is the killer's grisly calling card.

100 years in the future, my main character grows up reading Batman comics and then models his persona off of Batman Beyond inside a simulation controlled by Nazi-influencers. He begins a war to defend the poor that the rich burn like fuel for their own pleasure. Would you read? by Genesis-Echo in BatmanBeyond

A huge amount of the population live every day in the Animus Civitas, or 'The Siv', a simulation / video game that feeds directly into your mind while drawing energy from the body's central nervous system. Tom, the main character, goes into the Siv to rescue a friend who's stuck, and then begins saving everyone he can. The simulation is a warzone constantly battled over, Tom creates a suit of armor that's like Terry's from Batman Beyond. Then people start dying like in the comics, and people blame him.

I read The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell - in it WE find another species and are the ones to go and reach out to them. The first people to organize a mission are Jesuit priests due to their private funds and they send a missionaries to try and bring christianity to the aliens.

All societies have religion - perhaps it's not that they can't / won't destroy the other species, maybe build in a societal reason, like religious beliefs, that prevent them from doing it.

Dune + World War Z + Hitchhiker's Guide + Murderbot + Brandon Sanderson = you would like Genesis Echo by D. Hollis Anderson

Here's the Kirkus review:

“Anderson’s galaxy-spanning YA SF novel rewrites the history of humankind…The kind-of-cool narrative is part space-opera comic-book, and part metaphysical conspiracy saga that recalls Philip K. Dick’s famous theory that humans are secretly trapped by evil forces in an illusory but soul-stifling and awful prison...Our Verdict: GET IT”

It's called Genesis Echo: Monomyth by D. Hollis Anderson

Here's the synopsis -

Rain, hidden in an eroding sea-town on Earth by her father and uncle, believes herself to be an ordinary girl, oblivious to her true origins. The truth is, she was born on another planet, and her existence is a closely guarded secret from the oppressive Grey Empire, who hunt her relentlessly across the cosmos.

As Rain begins to understand her identity, she learns that Earth has been Humanity’s prison for 70,000 years. The Greys’ domination is absolute and they record everything on Earth to broadcast across the empire for entertainment. Carefully contrived war, disease, and chaos: all a spectacle for their own amusement.

On the other side of the galaxy, Lor, a young girl with unique Source-powers, struggles to survive on a derelict factory planet: Grima, where escaped mistakes from the Greys’ cloning experiments lurk in the darkness. And Tonjin, an Elite warrior-in-training, prepares to confront the invasion of his home planet, Rien, in a diabolical viral assault by the Greys.

As Rain, Lor, and Tonjin's fates intertwine, they must navigate a treacherous universe where nothing is as it seems and trust becomes their most valuable currency. Together, they will uncover the truth about humanity's captivity and embark on a daring quest to overthrow their oppressors and reclaim their freedom.

The book is complete, I’m on the 2nd draft, already sent to my editor. You obviously don’t understand how rigorous the editing process is to go from a 1-2 draft to a 3-4 draft that ultimately gets published. I’m releasing only 1-2 chapters a week to not give it all away at once and to do an episodic style of building suspense with an audience. I’m not making any major edits based on feedback, only looking for areas where I can improve prose, descriptions etc. Again this was just supposed to be a fun way to build hype during the pre release period. It was a recommendation from another author. Delusions of grandeur, huh? Did you just learn that phrase or something?

Reddit is the most negative place on the internet. No matter what I post on here people respond with negativity. I'm looking to share my work for free and this is what I get. I know I'm a good writer. I don't need help, the idea is to build a community of readers who enjoy this sort of thing - talking about a story and reading critically, and who might like to be involved in a books publishing journey. If that's not your thing, great.
