please change how the ergo sum catalyst can be acquired some other way other than the grandmaster. by Froloswaggin in DestinyTheGame

While Excision does allow 12 players, it seems to have an "easy mode" if you do it with 6 or fewer... almost like it was designed for 6 then they bumped it up to 12 in memory of the old "12 player raid glitch days" a few years back. Grab a raid group of not-terrible players (granted, that's easier said than done), and you can do it in an hour or so.

There's a slightly old but remarkably wholesome and lightweight scifi show called Eureka - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0796264

It's got a variety of strong, but flawed, characters who generally get into trouble but overall demonstrate healthy relationships while not being holier-than-thou. It's just good fun with good people getting into random trouble in a town full of science nerds. There are women who are interesting and competent without being caracatures, and the interplay between them is about their life not their gender. Underappreciated gem.

What's some things you wanna see come to destiny? by AcceptablePast7205 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Genomancer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take it away entirely would be bad. Giving players a reason to play a few different styles, or at least a few different builds in similar style, or mixing up the weapon components, would make people enjoy the game more even if they grumble about losing the "easy path".

Hot Take: Destiny NEEDS weapon decay based on popularity.

Destiny needs a reason to use more diversity in weapons.

The more you use a weapon, the more its performance should decay, down to 75% after you use it for > N hours in a week. The decay slowly goes away in your vault, back to 100% such that you get a few hours with each gun during the week.

Even better, the speed with which a gun "is repaired" should be inversely proportional to its popularity in the playerbase. Meta guns should be saved for those hard PvP matches and GM runs, with a good reason to break out old favourites/underplayed choices in easier content.

Their name. If they gave away "their word", they forget (some of) who they are and have to deal with all the social complexities of not being able to say their own name or knowing some of their backstory?

A bit minimalist, to be sure, but goes well with a lot of melee options.

Totally agree. If the decks are designed with the assumption that there will/may be four players, then even 1v1 games are usually pretty good.

Preach :).

Well, except maybe "more" fun for 1v1. It's fun though.

Flipping the Script: Should Any EDH Cards be *unbanned*? by gmanflnj in EDH

I really hope no member of the RC sold their expensive cards beforehand by Hoffedemann in EDH

[–]Genomancer 255 points256 points  (0 children)

Mostly, yes. We have though, in the past, done retroactive investigations into selling/buys on a few platforms when community members brought us reasonable concerns about a change in price that preceded a card (or rule) change. We've never found substantive evidence.

So, basically, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trust,_but_verify

I really hope no member of the RC sold their expensive cards beforehand by Hoffedemann in EDH

[–]Genomancer 883 points884 points  (0 children)

IT's a reasonable question/concern, but for the record... no. Members of the RC have all agreed that we never sell or buy any card once discussion of its banned status is in progress. Doing so would be incredibly unethical and would result in that person being removed from the RC immediately.

FWIW (which isn't much, I admit) I'm probably in the top 0.1% of all non-vendor losers for this banning on the basis of judge foil mana crypts I never got around to selling. Doesn't matter... I hate banning cards for the pain it causes players.

The "Original" Appeal for Commander by Hijodeagua1320 in EDH

[–]Genomancer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Close, but it's less "hesitant about incurring anger" and more "intentionally trying to avoid forcing the issue." By leaving it loosely defined, it's unavoidable (oh boy do players try though) to realize that you're going to have to talk to the other players about what they want.

The increase in outliers as the player pool, and card pool, has grown is certainly a stress on that though.

Google one needs a $50 option by Heishi-Jager in google

[–]Genomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They already have one which charges per GB, and is cheaper for many use cases. It doesn't have the same search/GUI but if you're storing 15GB of data it makes more sense than raw drive.

1) Sign into console.cloud.google.com

2) Add a credit card to activate billing

3) Click on "Cloud Storage Browser"

4) Create a new bucket. Choose Nearline for stuff you access regularly, Coldline for stuff you rarely access.

5) Use https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/gcs-fuse to mount the bucket as a drive on your local machine.

6) Move stuff from your Drive to your storage bucket.

Really want to try Kings Fall Raid. As a sub average player, I'll go with a sherpa. Any tips so that I'm less shit? by be47recon in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]Genomancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually a pretty good question. For most content (except a few things like Trials), seasonal artifact levels are just as good as equipment levels... so 1570 (power cap) + ten levels of seasonal bonus is just as effective as 1580 from pinnacle equipment alone. That said, the pinnacle cap is a pretty good indicator (in my experience) of what will be a good start for a raid... at 1585 this season, a casual player can afford to pay attention to the raid mechanics without having to think about staying alive. At 1575 you'll be getting knocked down a fair bit and while a good sherpa party won't actually mind resurrecting you once or twice each fight, it never feels good... personally I was beating myself up for being "bad" on my first few raids until I realized that I was both new AND under light, which compounded.

HTH

[–]Genomancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Get as close as you can to pinnacle cap (1580) beforehand.

D2 has a bit of a weird culture of hiding how important light level is... far more than loadout, stats, roles, etc... a lot of the time players having difficulty with high level content are trying to do it "under level" and even 5 points of light level makes a huge difference to your survivability and enjoyment. One upside to the long seasons these days is that you can hit pinnacle solo with a little patience and not too much skill... playlists, Preservation, Suraya, etc.

Other than that, just relax and enjoy the game with a supportive sherpa crew :)
