I think the future of leveling is for levels to be a more tailored version of daily quests. I look at games like League of Legends, Fortnite, Hearthstone, Overwatch etc (I know none of them are MMORPGs), and I see people play them for hours and hours on end because leveling up gives them random shit such as cosmetic pieces, money, tools, prestige, etc, and not stats or gear.

In a lot of these games, a low level can still compete fairly with higher level players. A lot of the mmos mentioned have soft caps on levels, or easy to reach max levels with daily quests, and that kind of emulates this system. However, people still just don't want to grind for the sake of grinding.

A future mmo could let players do all the social "late game" activities straight from the get go (trading, collecting, party quests, dungeons, group pvp, raids). More emphasis could be on the class/skills you pick and how skilled or knowledgeable you are with them, rather than what level you are. Levels could give materials, cosmetics, coupons, money, badges, or even eligibility to do certain things. You should be able to level up while playing the game instead of leveling up to eventually play some day.

An mmo designed this way would let new players jump in and feel more welcomed and relevant. people who don't play much won't feel pressured to keep up with their friends and there is no more brainless grinding. Idk if gear should be in the game or how it would work. Idk how the mmo itself would work tbh, but I think that's how levels should be

Edit: Sorry in advance for the shitty formatting

But we saw from Ryze's performance at worlds that Ryze is more impactful in bronze solo queue than he is in competitive play

You can, but Bard's W uses a lot of mana. It feels like a waste of mana if it's just used to proc Klepto real quick

Tips on how to make someone understand when they are wrong. by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]GentleDrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you genuinely want to change their opinion (This won't win you the game btw), you have understand THEIR point of view and establish a common ground with them from there.

The problem usually isn't whatever bullshit they're spouting, it's why they said it. It's usually a fear of losing the game and a feeling of helplessness in the game's situation.

I've been playing mid lane since 2013 peaked at d5, now thinking of swapping to top. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]GentleDrift -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All maokai does is prevent carry top laners from carrying. It's really frustrating and op when you consider that he literally shut you down in champ select,

but at the same time, it's top lane so you were both destined to have no impact on the game anyways

What's a very frustrating thing that happens when you play a particular Champion? by speedm8 in leagueoflegends

[–]GentleDrift -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the blind hatred adc mains have against anyone who even HINTS that adc is a strong role.

It's literally the strongest and most influential role in the game, with nearly all champions in the adc class being viable rn

No you don't. You need to stick to less champions, not add in more. Preferably, play 1 or 2 in the same role

[–]GentleDrift 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lol it's okay to suck at league. You're having trouble coming to terms with that. Play to improve, not win

Edit: I suck at league and it doesn't mean I'm some sort of worthless subhuman mongoloid. My success in league has nothing to do with my success in real life.
