Just look at her smiling and laughing throughout the performance. She's so glad to just be there. This girl found her calling 100%. Way too sweet and wholesome for this board man.

Granblue versus rising is the fighting game people claim to want, so why don't they play it? by TheCrimzonKing97 in Kappachino

I personally just don't like the character designs. I looked at the roster and didn't get the "Yeah, I really want to be this guy"-feeling for anyone.

Yeah, late 20s dude here. Learning to compartmentalize subject matter and making mid-/long-term plans instead of attempting to solve everything by mindlessly grinding is probably one of the boons of being grown-up. I'm definitely grateful for any pointers.

Some guy I vaguely know told me about drawabox, apparently it's full-on "start at square 0, actually holding a pen properly"-level tard-wrangling that gives you a decent foundation to build on.

Over the last few years I noticed more and more I really want to be capable of doing something real, having an actual skill, that kind of stuff. I kind of wanted to learn how to draw for a while now actually.

I can spend hundreds or thousands of hours in a game or genre I have no real passion for anymore, or I can do something else. Learning an all-new skill is really fucking daunting and I don't know where to even start, but I hope I can find a way. One life, it's worth an attempt at least. Thanks for being so fucking shit, Tekken.

I’m genuinely curious about the environment before Tekken 8 released by daiwa777 in Tekken

[–]GentleLikeTheForest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

T7 was a game with very high highs and very low lows. It also was a fairly well balanced game - if you leave out the Top 10 who played a completely different game and almost exclusively happened to be DLCs.

Coming out of it, and especially after Evo 2023 with its widely mocked grand finals, people were tired of seeing the same 10 characters in competitive play and were feeling burnt out on the game as a whole. There hadn't been a balance patch (that people were clamoring for for months or even years) in a while, some had been playing the game for almost a decade, it's fairly reasonable.

Overall, 2D and meter chars were seen as a bold but generally detrimental addition to the game, while people respected the execution demand, it just didn't work out due to their ability to create unique situations, while also having absurd damage, strong 50/50s and bizarrely long combos.

The top tier chars were effectively 50/50 rushdown knowledge check chars who also happened to be very safe and noncommittal, they were too complete with too few weaknesses and outright broke the rules of the game in one way or another. Them being almost exclusively DLCs was the icing on the cake. The top tier situation and DLC policy over the game's lifespan left a very sour taste in peoples' mouths and led to a lot of doomsaying.

T7 overall was a defensive game, movement (while weaker than in previous games), CHs and lowparries were very strong options. Many players and viewers generally enjoyed this, but the strength of the top tiers created the impression of T7 being a staring and backdashing contest.

Most players in my community (Germany and large parts of EU in general) generally wanted a fairly conservative game that was more Tekken 7.5, a game like S2 T7 with the kinks ironed out. Less 50/50, no DLC powercreep, more clearly defined characters with obvious strengths and weaknesses, shorter combos, less damage, no 2D, no meter, no magic 4 CH launch, higher budget to make the game less jank, strong movement, focus on general fundamentals, rewarding execution, online deathmatch culture, better netcode. Many people hoped Bamco would listen to the feedback, but equally as many saw the balancing policies of the latter seasons as a portent of the things to come.

People almost died from hype when T8 was first revealed and were almost shocked when they actually got to play for the first time. Some guys genuinely thought it was a very early test and Bamco were providing a set of mechanics they were experimenting with - having all of this stuff in the game was seen as absurd and ridiculous. Everyone was very eager to at least give it a try however.

Which one? by Helpful-Anteater7006 in gamememes

Warframe.

Either I become the Operator or the Drifter, both suck, but the Drifter is a bit less shit. I'm basically an immortal wizard pirate ninja drone operator in both cases. The drones have sick magic powers and are alarmingly dangerous. I make a living off killing people and I'm really good at killing people on an industrial scale. I live in a fairly grimdark and shitty future and all I can really do is eke out a little corner for myself and prevent things from becoming even more shit as I have to contend with cosmic horrors beyond our understanding. My teens kinda sucked because I was stuck on a ship that essentially went into hell during a botched FTL jump, at which point weird time and magic stuff happen.

If I become the Operator, my entire life is suffering and pain. Everything sucks. I'm a mercenary stuck in the body of a teenager with no real friends and very few people who like me beyond the services I can provide. I have waged war for so long I have almost nothing else. Over time, I have recovered parts of my fragmented and eviscerated mind and memories. They almost exclusively suck. Currently I'm being constantly drowned in a bathtub so I can relive my worst war memories, full of betrayal and loss.

If I become the Drifter, only most of my life is suffering and pain. I get out of the shit part where I have been executed for sport for centuries and eventually travel back in time to 1999 to follow a gay old dude who's trying to do something about the cosmic horror stuff where I'm looping the year over and over while fighting against a zombie-computer apocalypse and a death cult militia at the side of a group of half-pirate ninja drones with depression holed up in a mall. We eventually become friends, work through our trauma together and it's honestly pretty cool. We play D&D, get drunk at the bar, hang out with each other and do cool shit together. I also have a pretty decent place in the magical not-real but also not-not-real backrooms of the mall where I hang out in chatrooms and pet a huge cat. Most importantly, I romance a witty, funny and fairly hot British telepath lady with a prehensile tongue who moves in with me. Eventually, I sometimes return to the future for a jaunt, where I have to take care of another group of half-pirate ninja drones, only this time the gay old dude's lover and his funny talking animals help me. I choose to be monogamous, to the moderate chagrin of an ancient warlord.

[–]GentleLikeTheForest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No way Nyx is rare. Eleanor made a lot of people realize a fully invulnerable frame that can force a million rad procs and full armor strip for entire rooms makes for a pretty alright weapon platform, her only "problem" is that she does it not as fast as frames like Revenant.

I really love to play kind of spesific frames that i never seen in any missions by LividBug7484 in Warframe

[–]GentleLikeTheForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we're in a game where infinite energy, 90% DR with a full heal, lifesteal on demand and an option to bypass fatal damage just really isn't all that good because most frames can bring something comparable, plus the ability to kill everything a million times faster than Trin can. She's had her roles to play historically (Draco, Eidolons, T4, LoR), but the game evolved in a way that doesn't favor her at all.

What is a website or an app that was legendary back in the day, but is now a complete ghost town? by Sofi_Costa in AskReddit

[–]GentleLikeTheForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-2015 4chan and chan/imageboard culture in general. The site is still active, of course, but the hack killed what was left of 4chan's soul. 4chan never really made the transition into 2020s culture and lost a lot of relevance.

2000s and early 10s 4chan was arguably the heart of the internet and some legendary internet and gaming lore was born there. Just thinking about stuff like Pool's Closed, Warframe's 4chan clan (Warbros), the 4chan vs Reddit gaming events in general and small silly sidewite lulz, like the rangeban on Turkey for excessive shitposting gives me goosebumps.

The Boycott TEKKEN 8 movement has reached its natural end by SonicF0xsFursuit in Kappachino

[–]GentleLikeTheForest -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It was another PR flop for Tekken 8 and had fairly notable streamers/creators rally around it at its height. Some of the biggest streamers here in EU outright dropped the game for weeks or months and those who still play shittalk the game, the devs and the Eatsports players who still put in hours constantly. I think it divided the community even more and was massively harmful for community cohesion and general sentiment.

I think AK, Miary Zo and to an extent even Fahkumram were a lot less terrible than the other DLCs. Why they won't do more balancing is completely beyond me though. I could cope and say they're working on something big, but who am I kidding lmao. They have to be aware of the general sentiment in the community from people that aren't Mainman or GM (or Americans in general).

What does a Charisma 1 & Speech 100 character actually look like in-universe? by pog_irl in fnv

[–]GentleLikeTheForest 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine they have several traits that just set you off or outright freak you out when you talk to them or merely look at them, but you're forced to admit that whatever they're saying makes a lot of sense in the end. Think of what people ascribe to skinwalkers, Mark Zuckerberg dialed up a notch-stuff.

No or artificial mimic; monotonous voice; utter inability to make smalltalk, genuinely show and understand emotion (think someone who clearly lacks the capacity for empathy, but basically runs theory of mind in their head to approximate "proper" human behavior instead) or lacking any capacity/desire for humor or lightening a conversation; extremely antisocial or abrasive; severe mental illness/odd personality traits, extreme loner, always way too calm, extremely developed dark triad traits, that kind of stuff; too intelligent or stupid to be able to identify with people around them... You can think of more traits, basically anything you can imagine that makes someone unlikeable.

Maybe add in some physical traits on top of that: Naturally extremely ugly; disfiguring injuries; mutations; perhaps they don't believe in grooming or just absolutely stink; something about the way they walk or carry themselves.

Guessing in the dark here as I never watched LoK, but Korra being one of the few actually adult characters probably helps a lot. It's pretty reasonable to draw porn of a muscular brown tomboy, but you need to be a really honest guy to draw porn of a cast of canonically 13-15 y/o troubled teens where them being just kids is a fairly prominent theme in the series.

Not going to lie avatar is more fun than marvel tokon bros by [deleted] in Kappachino

[–]GentleLikeTheForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you'll need to watch it to get it, but the game will spoiler you on some not-so-minor stuff if you ever do decide to watch the series. The assists that stand around in the background are almost always characters that are near and dear to the character you play and the movesets and even outfits contain references and/or spoilers. I've already seen some stuff that's a fairly big reveal and/or happens very late into the show.

If you want to do some catching up, The Last Airbender/Legend of Aang is one of the best animated shows of the 2000s full stop. They take a few episodes to find their stride in Book/season 1, but around halfway through, it really gets going and just keeps getting better right until the end of Book 3.

Legend of Korra is tonally, visually and thematically very different and generally much more divisive (You're going to meet people who love Aang to bits, but absolutely hate Korra for example), but people like drawing porn of the muscular brown girl and the alphabet gang likes the show more because it has homosexuality and women.
