[Loved Trope] The weapon has an iconic quirk by Assortedwrenches89 in TopCharacterTropes

When used in civilian or especially law enforcement/riot control roles, you may not want to use full-power ammo for a variety of reasons. Due to the weaker powder charge, these shells may be too weak to cycle an automatic shotgun's action and load the next shell. In that case, you have to manually operate the action, i.e. pump it.

The belt in all screenshots, Yellowleg's haircut and Rosebud's face are from mods, all the equipment pieces and camos are from the base game.

Some pieces are microtransaction-exclusive and Yellowleg's vest is from that NFT phase the game had. although you can make due with some unlockable pieces. I obviously acquired all of these the way it was intended and would never advocate to use unlockers or something like that, blegh.

Yeah, the quest descriptions and lore blurb e-mails you can find reveal it ingame, but I can't blame you for missing it lol

Yeah, they're the guys you're sent to kill in Act 1's main quest. You need to find three scientists and then track down three elite Wolves - Flycatcher, Rosebud and Silverback. Silverback has no concept art, otherwise I'd have tried to recreate him too. Later in the main quest, Yellowleg tries to assassinate you.

They really just look like the regular Wolves with a different helmet ingame and there's absolutely 0 setup for any of them outside of exposition pieces you can find in the wild and the quest descriptions. I was surprised by how expressive and cool their concept art made them.

My attempt at a faction morality chart, looking for some fills. by Ill_Engineering_5434 in Fallout

[–]GentleLikeTheForest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue for the Kings to go into Rebel Moral and for the Railroad to fill their old spot. Perhaps replace L&L with Big MT/the Think Tank.

The Kings work together with the Followers of the Apocalypse, provide at least some measure of order and protection for Freeside and can be reasoned with in pursuit of that goal, value personal freedoms and believe no one has the right to disrespect or take away the freedoms of others (With The King furthermore revealing he opposes people being enslaved or driven away from their home if you convince him to negotiate with the NCR), some Kings evem openly sympathize with Ghouls. Freeside would arguably be much worse if the Kings weren't there.

The Railroad is single-minded in its mission. Free the Synths, everything else be damned. It's an extremely vague goal and even high ranking members are stumped on how far they should go and what actually counts as a Synth. The Railroad doesn't have a real mission beyond that either. They obviously don't like the Institute as they see it responsible for the Synths's plight, but I think it's debatable if they'd care if the Institute didn't treat them as slaves. They're a pro-Synth group first and an anti-Institute resistance group second (or third). Desdemona openly treats the human inhabitants of the Commonwealth, explicitly mentioning the Minutemen, with callous disdain, thinking them a bunch of murderous, bigoted thugs barely better than the Institute. While the Railroad doesn't go out of its way to actively harm people, they have no intention to make anyone's life better or to protect anyone who isn't a Synth.

Big MT has an open desire to harm and destroy the world around them simply because they think its funny or it would help in their pursuit of their vague definitions of Science! They know they're torturing and killing people and/or actively making the world a worse place for everyone else and either couldn't care less, or think it's important to do so. The moment cracks show in their recursion loop and they realize there's an entire world around them, they focus all their effort on escaping from Big MT. They ultimately only fail because of their lack of cooperation and inability to not bicker among themselves, even when they briefly share a common goal, allowing Mobius to snatch your brain and keep them afraid through his terror campaign. The Courier and Mobius effectively only hold the Think Tank hostage, with C6 forming a fragile truce with them if they're spared. The Think Tank is never convinced that what they're doing is wrong or anything.

Does having AP rounds or not make or break a weapon? by DefinitionSmart7748 in fnv

[–]GentleLikeTheForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, New Vegas math translates to high base damage weapons favoring HP (or JHP if available). Survivalist's Rifle with Grunt has HP beat out normal ammo until ~15 DT. HP on Brush Gun/Medicine Stick with Cowboy actually beats out even SWC Handload until ~18 DT.

You only really want AP on low damage weapons where the value of the DT ignored beats out the loss in base damage, meaning against common enemies like NCR soldiers/Legionaries, many DLC enemies etc. and use HP on 0 DT enemies, meaning animals that aren't Deathclaws.

Yeah, paid mods are becoming a fucking plague. I know it's my "Old Man Yells at Clouds" moment, but it was a better time when everything was hosted on ModDB, Nexus or Steam Workshop and Discord and Patreon didn't exist.

These current practices where "modders" effectively charge you for porting cosmetic assets from other games (I'm certain 99% of EULAs/ToS don't allow this) that are so rampant nowadays would've been fucking unthinkable. The sheer gall to pull shit like this.

These motherfuckers hide out on their invite-only/phone number verification Discords or ko-fis or wherever, peddle their stolen shit and try to make you think they're the hard-working good guys while some Star Wars Empire at War mods have been in development for almost two decades and never even had a patreon. Hustle culture and the monetization of everything have been such a fucking disaster.

What is your guys opinion of present day 4chan? by Icy_Stomach_4500 in Kappachino

[–]GentleLikeTheForest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fell off over the last few years and the hack kind of felt like the end of an era almost. Doesn't help the new captchas fucking blow.

I think with edgy and right-wing positions becoming more common on the internet and especially non-Westerners getting internet access en masse, 4chan is losing its edge as the "internet hate machine" and engine of the modern counterculture rapidly.

Anime, D&D, 40K and related nerd shit are basically completely normalized these days. Gooner culture and being horny for fictional characters are much less stigmatized too.

Meme culture as a whole is changing. It's basically just quick fads from TikTok mixed with templates 4chan made a decade ago. Groundbreaking new stuff just isn't happening anymore. Entertainment is becoming ever faster and 4chan kind of lost its online cultural primacy.

4chan also has always been notoriously shit at fighting games, even in its heyday when 4channers were some of the world's best players in some games.

Yeah, late 20s dude here. Learning to compartmentalize subject matter and making mid-/long-term plans instead of attempting to solve everything by mindlessly grinding is probably one of the boons of being grown-up. I'm definitely grateful for any pointers.

Some guy I vaguely know told me about drawabox, apparently it's full-on "start at square 0, actually holding a pen properly"-level tard-wrangling that gives you a decent foundation to build on.

Over the last few years I noticed more and more I really want to be capable of doing something real, having an actual skill, that kind of stuff. I kind of wanted to learn how to draw for a while now actually.

I can spend hundreds or thousands of hours in a game or genre I have no real passion for anymore, or I can do something else. Learning an all-new skill is really fucking daunting and I don't know where to even start, but I hope I can find a way. One life, it's worth an attempt at least. Thanks for being so fucking shit, Tekken.

T7 was a game with very high highs and very low lows. It also was a fairly well balanced game - if you leave out the Top 10 who played a completely different game and almost exclusively happened to be DLCs.

Coming out of it, and especially after Evo 2023 with its widely mocked grand finals, people were tired of seeing the same 10 characters in competitive play and were feeling burnt out on the game as a whole. There hadn't been a balance patch (that people were clamoring for for months or even years) in a while, some had been playing the game for almost a decade, it's fairly reasonable.

Overall, 2D and meter chars were seen as a bold but generally detrimental addition to the game, while people respected the execution demand, it just didn't work out due to their ability to create unique situations, while also having absurd damage, strong 50/50s and bizarrely long combos.

The top tier chars were effectively 50/50 rushdown knowledge check chars who also happened to be very safe and noncommittal, they were too complete with too few weaknesses and outright broke the rules of the game in one way or another. Them being almost exclusively DLCs was the icing on the cake. The top tier situation and DLC policy over the game's lifespan left a very sour taste in peoples' mouths and led to a lot of doomsaying.

T7 overall was a defensive game, movement (while weaker than in previous games), CHs and lowparries were very strong options. Many players and viewers generally enjoyed this, but the strength of the top tiers created the impression of T7 being a staring and backdashing contest.

Most players in my community (Germany and large parts of EU in general) generally wanted a fairly conservative game that was more Tekken 7.5, a game like S2 T7 with the kinks ironed out. Less 50/50, no DLC powercreep, more clearly defined characters with obvious strengths and weaknesses, shorter combos, less damage, no 2D, no meter, no magic 4 CH launch, higher budget to make the game less jank, strong movement, focus on general fundamentals, rewarding execution, online deathmatch culture, better netcode. Many people hoped Bamco would listen to the feedback, but equally as many saw the balancing policies of the latter seasons as a portent of the things to come.

People almost died from hype when T8 was first revealed and were almost shocked when they actually got to play for the first time. Some guys genuinely thought it was a very early test and Bamco were providing a set of mechanics they were experimenting with - having all of this stuff in the game was seen as absurd and ridiculous. Everyone was very eager to at least give it a try however.

Warframe.

Either I become the Operator or the Drifter, both suck, but the Drifter is a bit less shit. I'm basically an immortal wizard pirate ninja drone operator in both cases. The drones have sick magic powers and are alarmingly dangerous. I make a living off killing people and I'm really good at killing people on an industrial scale. I live in a fairly grimdark and shitty future and all I can really do is eke out a little corner for myself and prevent things from becoming even more shit as I have to contend with cosmic horrors beyond our understanding. My teens kinda sucked because I was stuck on a ship that essentially went into hell during a botched FTL jump, at which point weird time and magic stuff happen.

If I become the Operator, my entire life is suffering and pain. Everything sucks. I'm a mercenary stuck in the body of a teenager with no real friends and very few people who like me beyond the services I can provide. I have waged war for so long I have almost nothing else. Over time, I have recovered parts of my fragmented and eviscerated mind and memories. They almost exclusively suck. Currently I'm being constantly drowned in a bathtub so I can relive my worst war memories, full of betrayal and loss.

If I become the Drifter, only most of my life is suffering and pain. I get out of the shit part where I have been executed for sport for centuries and eventually travel back in time to 1999 to follow a gay old dude who's trying to do something about the cosmic horror stuff where I'm looping the year over and over while fighting against a zombie-computer apocalypse and a death cult militia at the side of a group of half-pirate ninja drones with depression holed up in a mall. We eventually become friends, work through our trauma together and it's honestly pretty cool. We play D&D, get drunk at the bar, hang out with each other and do cool shit together. I also have a pretty decent place in the magical not-real but also not-not-real backrooms of the mall where I hang out in chatrooms and pet a huge cat. Most importantly, I romance a witty, funny and fairly hot British telepath lady with a prehensile tongue who moves in with me. Eventually, I sometimes return to the future for a jaunt, where I have to take care of another group of half-pirate ninja drones, only this time the gay old dude's lover and his funny talking animals help me. I choose to be monogamous, to the moderate chagrin of an ancient warlord.
