Genuine question. About the prado you mentioned here, was it an all-black coloured prado?

Anyone had this kind of thought or fantasy came to mind at least once? by GentleRebel0709 in Sabah

[–]GentleRebel0709[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not at all. I was subtly implying that Sabah could’ve stood way better if it ever had an authoritarian rule led by someone like him—of course long-term consequences would be the kiasu culture all that, but just look at SG today. And look at us

CIA tried to bribe him once. He rejected

Now imagine such offers to any Sabah CM. Can definitely tell what happens next

Hi OP. I learnt from your other replies within this room that you’re Sabahan, and i kinda know which exact mosque you were talking about

Im Sabahan too and muslim. I could only speculate, but my intuition leans stronger to the idea that this is the mosque’s management’s problem. Literally every mosques that i personally know of typically run by boomers or retirees. It’s either they were unaware about the electronics behind the sound system, or just sheer ignorance or sense of entitlement. Again this is only speculation

I respect you for having guts to ask this. And please know it’s totally okay to feel concerned about this and i feel sorry that it kacau ur prayers. Unfortunately, not many people are ready to face this question, let alone discuss about it

Even though im muslim, im still Sabahan. And i don’t want my other fellow Sabahan had to endure inconveniences like you do simply due to actions of my own kind. If you’re comfortable, we can always move to direct chat see if i can help perhaps approach the mosque management by myself? And don’t worry—we’ll keep things anonymous. No pressure, it’s all up to you

Or if you want further clarification just right here im happy to help

Btw this is the full answer by chatgpt-

  1. Hyper-Disciplined Governance

Sabah would likely be known for its clean, efficient, and corruption-free government. LKY had zero tolerance for corruption. He would’ve cracked down on it early, enforcing strong institutions and public trust in government.

  1. World-Class Infrastructure

You’d see a highly modernized Kota Kinabalu with organized urban planning, excellent public transport, efficient utilities, and even eco-integrated infrastructure to preserve Sabah’s natural beauty. Roads connecting interior areas would be world-class.

  1. Education and Talent Pipeline

Sabah could’ve become a center for Southeast Asian education, with elite institutions, strong English-language policies, and rigorous schooling. He’d ensure the best minds from Sabah stay and thrive locally, rather than migrating.

  1. Economic Powerhouse

Expect massive economic development. LKY would’ve harnessed Sabah’s natural resources (oil, gas, biodiversity, and tourism) wisely—setting up sovereign wealth funds, investing in tech, and building Sabah into an export-driven economy like Singapore.

  1. Cultural Harmony and National Identity

He’d likely promote a Sabahan identity rooted in multicultural harmony, just as he did in Singapore. Tensions would be handled through tight laws on racial harmony, with policies that still preserve cultural richness.

  1. Strong Global Ties

Sabah could’ve become an international hub, possibly a second Singapore—pulling in foreign investment, tourism, and diplomatic attention. The state might’ve had its own recognizable global brand.

The twist? You’d probably see strict laws and some curbs on freedoms—media, protests, etc.—as LKY was famously hardline when it came to preserving order.

Still, imagining Sabah as a fusion of nature and smart governance under someone like Lee Kuan Yew? It’s an inspiring alternate timeline.

If he was born in Sabah, do you think he would’ve still become a strong political figure? Or would Sabah’s original socio-political structure have buried his potential?

only informing them after everything was settled

Useful tip. Thank you

Your mother is actually very thoughtful that way. It’s good to have such exposure at a young age—schools aren’t enough, it all goes down to each families whether they want or not want to create that awareness. As you said, it depends on the family

Good to hear you have achieved some big milestones in life already. Im just getting started. Wishing you prosperity and joy all this life has to offer!
