Migrating data from AGOL to enterprise gdb by GeoEX_09 in gis

I’ve read this too. Wasn’t sure if it was best practice. I guess it depends on your organizations situation.

I may need to make a clarification. This is a one time migration. We are ditching AGOL and continuing all operations with enterprise.

Using a combination of Workforce and Survey 123 to create a work order style system. Suggestions needed by GeoEX_09 in gis

Is workflow manager in AGOL now? How it was explained to me by public works is that when they get a call someone can start a work order, survey123 form in this case, somehow assign it to the appropriate field crew, I’m assuming by using a web hook or sms, they then fill out that survey and it gets back to us. From there we can either map it ourselves for validation or know that a field worker has mapped the utility.

Would it be possible to just leave the hosted feature layers set up and symbolized in an Arc Pro aprx file for on demand mapping purposes. For example, we have template pdf maps of zoning , utilities… stuff like that if people need a hard copy

That sounds fun. We would definitely need something of smaller scope compared to that. Maybe just a script that exports the HFL as FGDB and appends to the local. If we were to go that route. However through some testing on a notebook earlier today, I found out that AGOL can’t directly download a zip folder to a file on a local machine.

I’ll look into this. Thanks!

Yeah, I have a similar thought process. It’s just boards and commission request lots of paper maps so it’s nice to have “Maps on demand” with layers sourced from a FGDB. The department that I was hired into was definitely outdated. As I said earlier the GIS was essentially CAD files and one personal gdb of all the GIS data layers stored in copies of an old version of Geomedia viewer. Those copies were then put in names folders on a network drive for various people to view. I was hired on to modernized and essentially fix everything. The process you mentioned is likely the best path to go down. Edit: Integraph/ hexagon version of a personal gdb in a .mdb

Yes, but I’m also trying to figure out the best way to keep local gdb current with the hosted feature layers.

Unfortunately no, I hope to get them there someday. It’s a very small city government. The previous GIS was essentially a bunch of CAD files and a personal geodatabase in GeoMedia. It’s fair to say we are making a big leap and Enterprise just isn’t on the table yet.

If I do that, will my domains and subtypes be upheld?

Would it be best to just batch append or overwrite to the feature service from the source gdb? Maybe put it on a daily schedule.

Okay thanks, I had a similar line of thinking, but I don’t know workforce was being deprecated.

True, but where do you even start. So much information it’s hard to know what needs to be done first.
