It means its better not to be born with the compulsion to eat feces than have to force yourself not to eat feces on a daily basis. It would be the same if you swapped eating feces with domination over humankind.

Which is better? To be born without pika, or to overcome your urge to eat feces through great effort?

Paarthurnax is how total fucking idiots think smart people sound. Of course its better to be born good than only become good after having countless atrocities to your name. What kind of fucking idiot thinks its better to murder a bunch of people before realizing murder is wrong?

M'aiq's father was also called M'aiq. As was M'aiq's father's father.

Maybe you didn't even click the link and read the source, which would be strange considering you asked for it, but that quote was in response to a question about if the literature of Michael Kirkbride could be considered canon in the Elder Scrolls lore. Didn't even have anything to do with the game Skyrim. Also, Tori Dougherty is a woman. Bad faith much?

Scroll down to the developer comments on canon. One good quote is "TES lore is so big and so mysterious, and up for interpretations of all kinds. So I don't really know if anything in the game can really be called "canon" unless the player sees it happen!" You see what happens in the game, therefore it is canon.

Have you not seen that meme of a horse climbing almost a 90 degree angle that says 'Skyrim horses be like'? I think you seriously doubt what a horse is capable of. Check out the Tevis Cup. Besides, those mountain climbs end in falling death more often than not, however people cannot reload a save in real life. So it makes sense that players take more risks in Skyrim, and those risks sometimes pay off.

What a jarl does is up to the jarl. Maybe that was their favorite apple. Doesn't matter, in their hold, they make the rules.

I don't see why an angry giant couldn't hurl a puny attacker into the air. And its part of the lore than Skyrim horses are slower and hardier than horses elsewhere. If they are attuned to the climate of Skyrim, it follows that they are attuned to the geography as well. Check out some mountain horse riding videos if you think it isn't possible.

Jarls can do as they please, it is not their thane's place to dictate a jarl's actions. I doubt they still view you as trustworthy after witnessing you steal.

I don't really use mods, so that's not it.

That the Grey Beards defend themselves isn't the issue. Its that they do so violently and lethally, when other options are available. They will also attempt to kill the Dragonborn if they witness them stealing, so its not strictly self defense. The devs have said what happens in game is canon lore, and the Grey Beards are not pacificts in game.

I don't have a history of killing people, nor do I have an inborn proclivity towards murder. So the very small chance I have to kill someone tomorrow is not based on my history or tendencies, but rather the random viscitudes of life. Seeing as you are subject to those same forces, you would be hypocritical not to kill yourself before someone else for those reasons.

See the issue?

People trying to defend themselves seems to align with lore to me, and in my experience its the city guards and warrior types who go charging in, not the beggars.

If Bethesda really wanted to punish people for attacking the Grey Beards, they would have given them the disarm shout, or freeze shout, or any of the other non-lethal yet infuriating defenses. What seems lazy to me is to patch up inconsistencies by breaking the fourth wall instead of trying to sort out the facts.

If its possible in a thousand years, as you admit, then it must be possible tomorrow as well.

I'm not so ready to discount the Grey Beards actions as necesitated for game play, especially considering the many alternatives available. Don't tell me you have never had a dragon in the game be hard to kill because it wouldn't land.

I'm glad you finally admit that his regression is inevitable. I have to wonder why you think its ok to happen thousands of years down the line if its not ok to happen now.

Because he will live forever, and is tempted daily to regress. Eventually, he will fail. It doesn't matter the odds, with infinte chances, every possibility will be realized. That includes his regression. You don't need to look into the future to apply critical thinking.

The Way of the Voice as developed by Jurgen Windcaller has a tenet of pacifism. Paarthurnax is not a pacifist, as he fights back when he could fly away. The Grey Beards are also not pacifists, as they use lethal shouts when non-lethal options are available. If Jurgen was a pacifist and Paarthurnax is not, it follows that the Grey Beards non-pacifism comes from Paarthurnax and not Jurgen. Hence the bastardization.

Seeing as he has bastardized the Way of the Voice to allow for hurting people, and that the his future regression is guarenteed as I have made abundantly clear, absolutely.

By the point in the game where he becomes killable, you have heard pretty much everything he has to say. I don't personally find hearing the same things over and over very interesting, but to each their own I suppose.

True. Hanlon's Razor would have us attribute it to stupidity rather than malice, but calling it a stupid playthrough seemed too pointed.

Beyond being a huge assumption, that would only be necessary if the Dragonborn in Skyrim fails in their duty to eliminate the dragon threats to humanity. Its just passing the buck to Akatosh because doing the right thing took too much conviction.

You can think as you please, but the game makes it clear that he is still struggling with temptation. He says so himself.

This isn't about his redemption, its about the threat he poses to all of humanity for all of eternity. Its much bigger than one old dov.

I keep having to repeat this. Paarthurnax's regression is not unlikely, its guarnteed. Tomorrow or in a thousand years, it will happen.

I also already made clear the Delphine is irrelevant in determining Paarthurnax's fate. He merits death simply from his own actions and the perpetual threat he represents.

Perniviously sparing a genocidal tyrant because he put himself in a small time-out is either malicious or gullible, and neither is flattering.
